Mono1115
So, thought I'd finally post something here. I'm 27, married for 3 1/2 yrs, work as a therapist for MICA clients (mental ill/addictions), also part-time as a psych officer in the local psychiatric emergency room, AND I'm certifiable myself... Always dealt with depression/anxiety...my parents told me they were surprised I didn't come down with an ulcer by 16. Found out last year I have OCD. Makes ALOT of sense in retrospect. I also deal with some problem drinking, and am working on reducing my use back to moderate limits. Anyways, I don't have nay kids. Instead I have two cats, a turtle, and three tarantulas. (those are more my husband's though). Pleased to meet you all, hope the holidays were good!

resonance
Hi and welcome! What is a psych officer? When I try to think what it could be I get a mental image of a cross between a policeman and a therapist.

Mono1115
A psych officer is a person who works in the emergency room at the local hospital, usually a social worker, who does psychiatric evals on the people who come in suicidal/homicidal/psychotic, or under mental hygiene arrest. We determine whether to discharge them or admit them to the hospital...etc.
