Effexor and dosages

Recommended Posts

SO I currently am taking 150mg of Effexor XR, and I have OCD. I am wondering if anyone has had better luck on 225mg, because I've heard Effexor doesn't work on norepenephrin (I can't spell it) when it's at that dosage. Any luck? Does it really make a difference? I could use the help....thanks!

Yeah according to my docter Effexor-XR really helps break the OCD cycle at high doses. If you've been taking 150mg for a month or longer and it's not working well enough ask ur doc to increase the dose to 225mg.

How long have you been on the 150mg dose? I would say to first give it a little bit of time and let your body get used to the med before up-ing the dosage.

I believe I read somewhere that it is believed to begin to work on the norepinephrine at about 200mg. I could be wrong. Remember, though, that everyone is different and what works for one person might not work for another, ya know?

Back in the day when I was on Effexor, I believe that I went up to 375mg... made me mad sick, though...

Talk to your doctor about how you are feeling the next time you see him/her.

Good luck.

I don't have OCD but effexor really hit at 225. Positive changes and such. I'm actually going up to 300 because depression has come back. I personally think it is the abilify that was used to squash a hypomanic period last fall and I don't need it now, but I digress.

I think you are correct in saying that Effexor doesn't hit Norepinephrin (I can't spell it either) until higher doses. What does your doc say?
