unipolarbear
Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I think that lamictal is changing my sight. The other day, I woke up and saw a red square out of my left eye that wouldn't go away. it was really freaky. It went away after an hour or so. And I know that Lamictal binds to melanin. So I don't know if I'm watching too much tv or I freaking out or if it's really the lamictal that is messing with my eyesight. ALso, if I close one eye and look at the tv, I can make it look really far away or really close. Freaky. Anyone else experience this?
LunaRufina
Lamictal can cause problems with eyesight, such as blurring or double vision. It can also make it difficult for the eye to adjust to focusing at different distances. I don't know if you are experiencing any blurring or difficulty reading, but that could be attributed to lamictal. I don't know what the square or other things are all about, but they might fall under

r.mcmurphy
vitreous separation is something that comes your way. nothing to be done. the sack slumps forward within the eve and the retina no longer functions as it once did. the floaters scare the shit outta ya. seeing things flying around, running for a fly swatter and what not. i went in to have a md take a look at what my condition was in. he saw v. separation plus the beauty part-glaucoma! have had botched radial keratotomy, a cataract removed, and with the insertion of the prosthetic lens in one eye, i am now near sighted in one and farsighted in the other. retinas have been in bad order since my early 20's because of multiple fryings by arc welding flashes. i think that if you research vitreous separation around the web, you will find that what i offer holds up. i go every six mos. for a pressure test for glaucoma and wide field testing for same. the slump is of no concern to the opthamologist. my humble opinion is that lamictal is not driving the thing. when your shit begins to roll around like groucho's, you might have a drug interaction. get to an opto-doc and have them take a look-see. do not know if glaucoma and v-sep go hand in glove. how cool can it get! i take an eye drop in each nightly and won't have to rely on my burgeoning moon-bat sonar to get around. science rules! usernametaken
are they the slow moving big floaters that jog if you focus on them? or the quick little dots that sorta blink and move everywhere?
r.mcmurphy
My thing are the big, slow mammy-jammers that get to be a pain when they get in the way of the printed word. I got busted by a friend for riffing on this thread! If one must plagiarize, ya gotta do it right. i should have typed: i went in to a md to see "what condition my condition was in." can't get a thing past my comrade crackpots! whynot
I had an interesting visual expericence with Lamictal yesterday--I looked it up in the PI sheet and it's called oscillopsia or oscillating vision. When I first woke up, I was trying to make my way to the bathroom, in the dark, and I couldn't walk properly--I was stumbling around like a drunken bear and ran into the door frame. Once I turned on the light, the entire room was moving. It was like watching a TV that the horizontal hold wasn't working on, except the images were moving from the left to the right, instead of up or down. The room was like a giant flip book going in slow motion. Every time I moved my head, it got worse. After about a half hour things got more or less back to normal, but I did have a few very mild dizzy spells later in the day. I will see my pdoc on Tues, so I will ask about it. Has anyone else had this type of visual problem? I just got up to 100 mg 5 days ago. The Lamictal is helping my depression a lot, but if this sort of thing becomes frequent I may have to reconsider.
