chewbacca
Anyone have any input on provigil and wellbutrin? Looking for feedback on safety, side effects, and overall experience. I take zoloft at 150mg and klonopin as needed. Also like to have a few beers on the weekend.... thx
Catnapper
I've been on WB for years; I have recurrent major depression and dysthymia, and am exhausted and sleep all the time when I'm depressed. During my last episode of depression, the pdoc augmented the WB with Provigil and it didn't do anything at all for me, good or bad. It was like I was in a drug trial and taking the placebo or something. I got out of that episode by augmenting the WB with Vivactil, an old tricyclic, and Topomax, off-label use for an anti-seizure med. I'm back to just straight WB now - 450mg/day, and am feeling much better. I've been taking it for seven years and haven't noticed any side effects, and my liver panel came back fine so I'm not worried about long term effects at this point. The SSRIs, including Zoloft, don't work for me at all, they just seem to turn me into more of a zombie than I already am. I need activating drugs, so if any sort of mania could be an issue for you than WB may not be a good idea, although your pdoc would be the one to know. I wish you good luck in finding something that will work for you.
Greenyflower
FWIW, I've been taking Wellbutrin (450 mgs) + Zoloft (50 mgs) for two years now. It's been a great combination for me and pretty much side effect free. I also drink on occasion and have found that more than two drinks makes me feel like crap the next day, both physically and in terms of mood.
