ChemistryExperiment
So. I have crazy ass hallucinations. Lots of them. Most of the time. But I've noticed something. My hallucinations weren't as bad when I was on concerta. And, the more caffine I injest... the milder my hallucinations are that day. Granted, they are still bad. But I drink the caffine to help with my ADDness. It calms me down like unbelievable, and helps me to function. Could I just be an odd duck that stimulants could HELP hallucinations? Because, before I went on concerta, I was in a full blown psychotic episode, went on concerta, and it went away. It could be a coincidence, and no, no one knew I was psychotic.... I just... wonder. It makes me want to start taking caffine pills. Seriously. I'd take anything to make the hallucinations go away. I'm manic... so my hallucinations are like through the roof, but yesterday, after I drank some caffine, they were a lot better for a few hours.. and then slowly returned to full speed. This is a new correlation. I was just wondering, would it be worth it to invest in some caffine pills, just to see if a decent dose of caffine would nix some hallucinations? Couldn't hurt could it? Couldn't hurt could it? It could. A soild slug of caffeine, three large mocha cappucino drinks comes to mind, can really make your heart pound and jack up your blood pressure. Then again, caffeine is pretty safe even when you're feeling miserable from it. How's this for odd - two of the tricyclic antidepressants used in ADHD (Norpramin and Vivactil) can increase psychoses in schizophrenic and bipolar patients - but both are still prescribed for the depressive phases of either one. And, I think we have a couple of members with depression+psychosis, for whom these meds are the ones that keep the psychoses under control. Oh yeah, Norpramin is even "indicated" for anxiety disorder. So even if you are an "odd duck," your observations may not be out of line. With medications like this "crazy meds" really IS the appropriate term.
