Psychologist makes patient wear dog collar

Recommended Posts

Technically, from the point of view of requiring a patient to abide by specific behavioral limits or accept certain consequences as negative reinforcement - it's not that different from coercing a patient to sign a "no-suicide" or "no-drugs" contract on pain of encarceration in the local mental facility or even jail. One can even justify it by claiming that if the client continues as she's been that she would die...

Although it still comes back to a gross abuse of unequal power in a formalized relationship, don't expect a conviction in a jury trial. Many people do hold to the view that any action that could save a life or prevent a death is justified, no matter how much of a violation of another person's rights or dignity it may be.

I don't know if he lost his license, but he was cleared of assault charges.

*Trigger* sexual assault

"A District Court jury has found a Perth psychologist not guilty of sexually assaulting a bulimic patient when he used a cat-o'-nine tails whip, a dog collar and sado-masochism in treatment sessions."

"Perth psychologist cleared of sexually abusing patient but fined for contempt"

Maybe he refused to give the name because there may not have been a name?

hmmm?

Alls I'm sayin' is that I know of no psychologist in their right mind that would

consider this as "treatment". Maybe for fun and kicks, but not treatment.
