Waterfall
I'm bipolar and am on Lamictal and Wellbutrin. I was on Abilfy but I stopped taking it. I think it was making me feel dumb. It just seemed unnecessary. It was the Wellbutrin that knocked the suicidal ideation and obsession with death on its ass. So I quit cold turkey last week and I don't feel any different whatsoever. Does anyone know the general rule for getting off Abilify?
scatty
I had to stop taking it cold turkey with no ill effects but you know the rules waterfall- taper, taper, taper. The question would be is the lamictal and wellbutrin enough to ward off severe mania if it should strike? For me, I went nuts and needed to add risperdal. Be sure to tell your pdoc what's going on. I wish you luck!
GroovyGwen
I would worry about the mania coming back. What dosage were you at? I take 15 and seem OK. Notice the use of the word "seem". Both Lamictal and Welly can be activating for me, so just be aware if any of the pre-mania feelings come on...
chimpmaster
Most Atypical Ap's can be started and stopped fairly quickly. At 15mg you could probably stop cold turkey. Im on 60mg so its different for me. I wouldnt recommend this change without consulting your dr however.
Waterfall
I'm still off of it and I can't believe how much better my mind is working. I can spell again and I just feel mentally sharp. On the Abilify I felt somehow stunted and unable to make sense of out things. It really affected me at work. Now I just have to convince my boss that I am more capable than she first thought. Anyone else get brain death from Abilify?
Sophia85
I'm on 30 of abilify and I love the stuff. It has changed my life for the better by 100x.
