strattera + wellbutrin xl + provigil and other crazy meds

Recommended Posts

i was wondering if anyone has experience with a combination of wellbutrin xl, strattera, and provigil.

i am currently taking:

300 mg wellbutrin xl

200 mg lamictal

5 mg abilify

and 400 mg provigil.

i'm 21 and dealing with bipolar II, eating disorder-nos (recovering from anorexia), and recently diagnosed with ADD. i should also mention that i am a recovered meth addict with 8 months clean and sober. i take provigil to counteract the long-term withdrawal effects from the meth and also the hypersomnia from the bp II. i am still exhausted all the time and can't focus to save my life, but there's not a chance in hell i'm getting any adderall/ritalin. i know that wellbutrin and strattera both work on the norepinepherine. just want to know if anyone has any experience with the combination. not sure how provigil would interact.

thank you so much.

FWIW, self medication with street stimulants is par for the course if you make it to adulthood with undiagnosed and untreated ADD. You were practically born with an amphetamine deficiency. Statistically, you'll be less likely to relapse if you have a stimulant rx. I had cocaine problems for a while.

It's not advised to combine wellbutrin and strattera as they can cut into each others effectiveness.

Ditto what VE said about combining Strattera and Wellbutrin. A good doctor (or pharmacist) wouldn't let that one slide through.

But the general consensus around here (backed by my pdoc and those of a lot of other members) is that Stattera is proving to do squat for ADD. I don't have any abuse history, so I don't know how that all plays out, but I'd spend some time doing some research.... talk to a few folks here - especially those with a history of abuse.... and then try to find yourself a good doctor who will treat you with the right medicines.... knowing that your abuse history was probably largely do to attempts to unknowingly self medicate.
