I suck at social stuff like many here... hope it was the right thing to say)... dan That's all okay. I'm actually not picky about punctuation and capitalization and all those other silly NT rules about grammar. Especially with my brain rot, my verbal centers have gone to shit anyways. I could never do the social thing either... again, silly NTs. ;-) (It's a spectrum, I'd not think you were near the NT side as most of society is.) hiya herrfous. what kind of music do you make? You can click the link that (as of 2/17/2006) is at the bottom of my sig. I really love hard rock (it's like when you take oldies rock, or even soul, and kick it up a notch, so to speak). Also, there's art rock (think bands like Radiohead, who can do unconventional and even abstract stuff)... in comparison, I do art metal! So you can imagine how it sounds. (your discretion applies here.) Right now all of my music is instrumental as I debate acoustic carpeting all 3 walls and the door of my 3'x4' now-empty linen closet to make an impromptu voice recording studio. I allegedly can sing, having taken a lot of music theory and having been in choir a little. The music itself has nothing to do with real instruments, I composed it using a program made by Apple... it is called GarageBand, and is bundled free with the purchase of any new Mac. Anyways, should my sig ever change (as it does every other day), you can go to music.download.com/odynognosia to find it. The 'band' name is listed as "Odynognosia", which is a word I made up. It comes from the Greek prefix odyn, meaning pain, and the word "gnosis", which of course means knowledge. The funny thing is, once I found out that my vocal cords were fully functioning after my October throat surgery, I changed the name of my future/faux band to "Paramedial Resonance". I like the term. I bet the guys who MC the gigs will have a great time pronouncing it. Oh yes, I need a REAL human bassist, guitar player, drummer, and keyboardist. =D
LikeMinded
I'm going to threadjack my own thread here for a bit -- "Odynognosia" had been previously chosen at one point since it refers to being too smart for one's own good, which I've been accused of. Now..... In voice, the idea of "resonance" is how your vocal cords normally function. When you talk, they fly in together from your pharnyx and vibrate against each other. In my case, my left vocal cord was paralyzed, 90% retracted (!), during an open heart surgery I had when I was 9 months old. Somehow, that's a common complication. They did what's called a "video stroboscopy" on me last month and discovered that my right vocal cord was so used to the left one being dead that it went clear across my pharynx for me to be able to talk. It's hard to explain without pictures. Normal speech is made by "medial resonance", where the two vocal cords meet in the middle. My speech is formed by "paramedial resonance", which is when the junction of the vocal cords during speech lies to one side or the other. Of course, my left vocal cord itself is still nonetheless paralyzed, so my voice isn't as loud or projective as it could be. Which is probably a good thing. Strangely, the above wasn't too FOUSy, it took my ENTdoc about 30 minutes to explain it to me......

LikeMinded
Nice to see ya finally saying hi. typical adder, procratinating intoducing yourself. Oh, and a bit of threadjacking...I am going to Baltimore soon for work, staying in the Inner Harbor area - know any good places to eat? I'm thinking on that one. I'd eaten in the Inner Harbor area several times, but recalled no restaurant names at all, which sucks. I actually lived on the northern fringe of Baltimore City (neighborhood of Mt. Washington/Cheswolde) on the border with Pikesville and Towson, which is about 10 miles from downtown/your area. If you have the time to get up North, Towson has an amazing selection of restaurants surrounding its downtown (defined by the roundabout at York Rd., Delaney Rd., Joppa Rd., and a few other streets that feed into it). And I'm not talking about the Mall; go south of it to get an eclectic selection. I suppose it's more of a dinner thing since it's too far away for lunch. Towson is just inside the beltway (695) on the direct northerly side. Best way to get there from downtown is actually just Greenmount Ave. (just lock your doors the first 2 miles!!!!!), then it becomes York Rd., hitting the Towson Roundabout about 10 miles from downtown.
