Anxiety/OCD symptoms worse when not depressed?

Recommended Posts

I don't know that I'd describe myself as manic, but maybe I am or on my way there.

I was fairly depressed for a while and then got my Zoloft refilled finally. Things went uphill quickly after that, but my anxiety level gets worse by the day. I can't sit still, I worry about everything constantly, and my mind will not turn off.

I do likely have OCD, but my symptoms are non-existent when depressed. But they are back with a vengeance now. For instance, my hands are raw from washing.

Is this mania or hypomania or am I just a freak of nature?

I do have a pdoc appt on March 5th, that is the earliest I could get to find some meds that are ok with nursing besides Zoloft. I also go to therapy weekly.

I don't have OCD, but I do find that anxiety gets worse when the depression is less. Like you, my mind will not turn off and I worry about everything, constantly. In my case, I become obsessed with all the things I've screwed up.

I know this is very different from what you're suffering, but I would certainly say that you are NOT a freak of Nature!

I'm glad you're seeing your therapist weekly.
