Blood tests may be possible for mental health conditions

Recommended Posts

Wow. That might be really useful in determining what problem a person with a problem has.

But I bet most people will see it as a test of whether someone has a problem or not. I.e. if you score right on the test you have a real problem, otherwise people will believe you're faking it. ):

That could eliminate a lot of bullshit...like the state deciding you are sane all of a sudden and kicking you off disability.

gee, that felt pointed lol.

heh. if they'd been able to blood test me, i wouldn't be having to work for sure!!

of course, they can't even decide what my blood type is. so who knows.

A friend of mine pointed out to me that we actually have had biological tests for panic disorder for years. If you inject someone with panic disorder with sodium lactate or have them inhale CO2, they're likely to have a panic attack.

The test has about a 75% hit rate. Which means you can go and take the test and score negative, but still have panic disorder. Except, now you have panic disorder and people who don't understand statistics are even less likely to believe you than they were before.
