MiaB
I opened the board and was immediately regaled with an obnoxious voice bellowing out "you're beautiful". I nearly hit the roof.
resonance
That's fucked up. I don't know but I'm sure someone with more knowledge will jump in soon. I hate, hate, hate sound coming from my computer that I didn't already authorize.
AirMarshall
I just went to the relationships forum and also opened the first two topics and did not get any singing ads. What topic were you looking at, or was it from the forum level? Ads are generated by Google automatically. They scan the words on the page and place ads with the mostly likely focus. For example, you start a thread about tea and crumpets and get an advert for custom Earl Grey tea. We don't have control over the ads. It's all or nothing. I don't use Google, but in the last couple weeks I have noted that Yahoo has started using noisy ads, which ticks me off as well. You may be able to block them by adjusting your browser filters, like blocking pop-ups. sympathies, a.m.
Tenebrae
this is why i turn my sound off unless i want to use it for something specifically. it might help. i HATE all these random noises. i got that exagerated startle response going, and i just can't deal with that stuff. Becca
I'm not positive, but I don't think the ads are all or nothing. I'm pretty sure there's a way to block specific ads. I'm not positive on that. I also don't think I have access to adsense. But... I'm going to move this to the board questions board (or whatever it's called... brain fart) and shoot a pm to VE, who I know knows more than I do. Velvet Elvis
It's possible to opt out of individual ads but not without losing money. On firefox adblock and flashblock are both of use.
MiaB
It's still there this morning (and made me jump out my chair again), but I actually clicked on it this time and discovered it's a South African ad. So the rest of you won't encounter it! No biggy - I'll just mute my volume. thanks, M
Dee
I'm sorry but that really made me LMAO!!

GroovyGwen
The visual of you jumping out of your chair is amusing. I smiled. Guess I don't have sympathy. But you ARE beautiful btw... South Africa wants you to know that!
MiaB
I was kidding about Dee having no sympathy, although she HAS been laughing about this since she woke up today!
