what is this secret code on your sig? I hope you are not giving the aliens secret messages about us, about me.

09 . . . C0

and then i wonder if its some dandy code to get access to porn or something....

Deckbridge, anyone who wants porn doesn't need a secret code. Just type anything suggestive into your search engine and you'll get all the free porn you want. heh

How did I know that?

hex is strangely simple... instead of counting in tens (1-9, 10-19, etc.) like we do, it's a "base 16" format, so it's counted in 16s (1-F, 10-1F, etc). it's essentially adding 6 more digits to our normal ones.

Example: 1-15 (base 10) in base hex (16) would be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F.

Following that, the number we know as 16 in base-10 would be known as 10 in base hex! 17 in base-10 is 11 in base hex, etc.

now, there are many reasons why someone would display a random hex code at the bottom of their signature, but I'll let VE go into those if he wants to...

Oh man... that cracks me up... I just found out the other day what that hex number is. A friend of mine had it as his status message on Google Talk.

If you want to talk in code, you can use this translator

It goes from hex to text and text to hex. There's a similar one for binary (base 2) and octal (base 8). Don't even ask me where I got the site from... very long story.
