I know it helps quick, but does it help with anxiety?

Of all the atypical anti-psychotic medications, abilify is more stimulating and generally treats the negative symptoms of schizophrenia, like motivation and so on. It may help anxiety a little bit, but it is not renowned for it.

Abilify has been very activating for me. And during times of titration, I noticed increase anxiety and panic. Not sure if it works to eliminate anxiety. But I can definitely say that it has increased anxiety at times for me.

Ditto on the increased anxiety. I had to switch back to seroquel even though it made me gain weight. I think I'd rather be a calm, relaxed overweight person than filled with intense anxiety. I'm Bp btw. I think pdocs are overprescribing abilify for bp. imho.

Massive anxiety for me too. I just dropped it four days ago because of that and other side effects that I just can't cope with anymore.

It works fast... almost as quickly as Zyprexa. There are loads of benefits, but who knows what side effects you'll get until you try. My pdoc seems to think you can get too worked up about side effects and become more susceptible for that reason alone. However, I wasn't expecting arthritis pain with every AAP I've tried so far. It really hurts.

So, I went from taking Abilify to taking Seroquel and now i'm remembering why I switched to Abilify in the first place, other thhan the weight gain. Seroquel is making me ragey and irritable and RLS. Oh adn ;):) It is also making me have suicidal thoughts. I hope i didn't put the triggers too late. I was thinking of going back on Abilify because the severe depression is a lot worse than anxiety. Or maybe trying Risperdal. I keep hearing good things about it. When I first started taking Abilify, I was inpatient and they started me at 15 mg. which kicked my depression in a couple of days. But I had really bad akathesia. But I was very hyper and happy. But very bad akathesia. But my pdoc mentioned taking cogentin. I'm so confused!!

My P-doc is talking about putting me on a beta-blocker along with Abilify... I have tried Prozac and Lexapro for my GAD/Panic disorder, both made me very ill. I guess something about being hypersensitive... I am wondering if any of you have been on this cocktail and had it work out for you. I know everyone is different, but I am just looking for some re-assurance.... Thanks ;)

I'm on a few different things, one of them being abilify, but still, take this as you will: I have found that being on a beta blocker did more for my anxiety than anything else ever has. I highly reccommend at least trying it. It may not work for you, but I really think it's worth trying it to see.

Thanks so much! I wasn't sure that I would get any replies, due to the date of the last post... Pdoc Rx'd Gabapentin to try first. I think I am more afraid of that then I am of the beta-blocker... Just because of the inconclusive evidence that it works. Like I said, I have been in hell the past month trying to get all this med crap figured out. I think I will tell him on Friday that I would like to try the beta-blocker and the Abilify. I also take Ativan at night to be able to fall asleep... I would like to be able to stop taking that.
