Well, they both help with depression.. but they aren't really the same. Effexor works on serotonin/norepinephrine/dopamine while Wellbutrin does norepinephrine & dopamine.

But Effexor's strange in that it doesn't work on norepinephrine until you reach 225mg, and the same with dopamine at 300mg. So there won't be any interaction between the two meds until at least 225mg. And even then it's usually alright to be on both at once. The drugged feeling is probably just the Effexor start-up.

I take effexor and wellbutrin, both currently at 300mg each. They've been up and down over the years. I also take provigil, 400 right now, but that also has been up and down over the years. When I start to go manic, I drop the effexor lower and stop the provigil. I like the combination of all 3 for my depression.

Truly appreciate all the knowledge!

Maybe I have hope with all three!

they sure cost me enough today and when I got home I had 30 pills instead of 90 for wellbutrin...called and they were closed...have to work tomorrow....hoping there is no grief with this than I already have tonight

Next month to add lithium and thyroid med I believe is what he said after lab work and a copy of my stress test...

new doc seems soooo much more knowledgeable than the 2 I've had the last 4 yrs

he's also pharmocologist

thanks again

Generally when the pharmacy messes up, it's noted on the vial. Last time it happened to me, they gave me 15 instead of 45 100mg sertraline tablets. They had read the script as 1/2 tablet per day rather than 1 1/2 per day. They looked up the original script and refilled the script. With apologies even.
