Im looking to opt out of Geodon, and I remember finding stability on Trileptal. The only reason I quit it was the fact that I developed a minor rash and some minor adema, and I paniced and dropped it like a hot potato. Looking back (and comparing those side affects with the ones Im getting from Geodon) I think I may have jumped the gun a little. So here are my questions....

Is trileptal weight neutral?

If it turns out it was the trileptal giving me the rash couldnt I just take Benadryl and deal?

IF it turns out that it was the Trileptal giving me the adema, would a normal diuretic counteract that?

Because, other than those stupid side affects I was stable.

hello

i think trileptal does nothing to your weight. i've been taking it for over 6 months and pretty much kept my pounds stable.

about the rash, i don't know if it has some relation, but since i've been taking it i've got moderate acne in my face, neck and back. it might be coz of the lithium, but i'm not sure.

about the swelling, if that happens, try some natural remedies, like teas and such. when i went into surgery i swelled a lot, especially in my belly, and my doc prescribed a strong med used for people with kidney failure, but my mom found out about a diuretic tea and it solved the problem. of course, i spent more time in the potty that in front of the tv haha.

hope all this babble helps a bit.

no negative side effects so far.... at first i felt pretty good, then good, then normal, then oh well and finally i crashed. that is why doc put me on lamictal and risperdal. but i remember during hard days my doc would increase the oxcarbazepine dose. i dunno why.

i'm still taking it but doc said i'm gonna quit it soon (no cold turkey style)

there were good times with trileptal, of course, it helped me go thru finals and obtain good grades. but it stopped working slowly.

this is not necessarily your case. your doc knows best. so ask him/her. and if you go on it and it's not working, let him/her know.

at this point the anxiety has been eating at me, followed close behind by the depression, and many thoughts of death. The withdrawl from Geodon has not helped much but the Trileptal seems to have me doing well for right now. On the other hand i felt an awful lot like hospital material on Geodon anyways so, this may be a step in the right direction.
