Another CM urchin looking for a home

Recommended Posts

Silver caught me as soon as I signed up, I've posted a couple of times, and I'm glad to be here. I was stunned to see that CM was down again. I've always appreciated the med expertise and I'm having some fun new med or maybe not med related problems. I'm still learning my way around here and trying to figure out the appropriate place to post my questions.

Anyway, thanks for being here.

Thanks, Sasha. I know Firehorsie is around here somewhere. She never came back to CM. I never found out how her eyes are doing re: Topa.

P.S. We're getting loads of luscious Alpaca and baby Llama in.

I haven't heard from FIrehorsie in awhile, I was wondering if maybe you had, but I guess not?

Baby Llama? That sounds pretty dreamy....

Sorry zenbean, no secret code - the Topamax would prevent me from remembering anything that complicated anyway, I was talking about yarn. I work at an excellent yarn shop and we are getting some beautiful baby alpaca and baby llama yarns in. Some are fair trade yarns from Peru and they are beautifully heathered by spinning with some silk and a little merino. Surprisingly, baby llama feels amazing in the skein, but spun by itself is a little scratchy when worn. You just need a shirt under it. It's best mixed with some silk. It's still dreamy, Sasha, and I think we may even have some in that dark red you were looking for a while back. Alpaca is always right. We also have some great undyed alpaca grown in the US and spun by a co-op. It comes in, well, alpaca colours of black, tan, cream, and grey. It's untreated and delicious.

I also love the animals and really wish I had some land down here for alpaca or llama. I live in South Texas and I think llama do better down here. We are participating in a sheep and wool festival in November called Kid 'n Ewe (and Llama, too) and they will have the actual animals there as well as workshops, vendors, demonstrations, etc.

We also sell llama and alpaca fiber for spinning. I think our most exotic animal fiber is probably camel.

Hey, Bion - nice to see you among the living.
Hey Silver, thanks, good to see many of the old familiar names from Crazymeds around here @ Crazyboards. I guess I better get around to doing my own official introduction & signature, etc .... Still trying to find my way around this forum ....

I, too am easily seduced by a self patterning merino sock yarn or a delicious Peruvian hand-dyed baby alpaca. I just started a blog at hannaknit.blogspot.com yesterday and will get some yarn porn up ASAP. I have a link to my shop there. We don't have a shopping cart, but will ship anything you want. Just email us or give us a call. We are trying to keep the site updated to reflect all the new yarns coming in, but we're getting a little behind. Today we got in a lot of Jitterbug sock yarn and some amazing silk with matching mohair. We also have some terrific alpaca sock yarn. If you click on "about us" I'm the "Sock Goddess" - hence my obsession with sock yarn. Let me know what you like, we try to keep a lot of exotic fibers not easily found in boring yarn shops or *shudder* places like Michael's or Hobby Lobby, and I will send you some pictures privately. Unless there are other yarn whores (which I mean in the most affectionate and self-identifying sense of the word) who want to see them and if so I'll put them on my blog and point you there again.

ETA: Dude, are you in England? You should be sending me yarn. Get thee to the Rowan factory and snatch up all the discontinued yarns you can find. I think that most of the stuff we have that will be difficult for you, or cost prohibitive if you can find, it will be the South American alpaca and llama yarns. We can get it to you at our retail price plus the cost of shipping. I smell a yarn swap.

Sorry Cer, it's hannaknit.blogspot.com. without the s. I'm not Finnish. Otherwise I might not threaten you with pointy cowboy boots for dissing the Longhorns. Weird though, because the title of my blog is HannaKnits. Anyway, I just started it yesterday, so I'm still learning my way around. I do have a picture of myself and my dog up, though! And some text!

What kind of yarn are you looking for? Can I interest you in some camel roving to spin your own?

BWHAAAA! ;)

You just wait until December 2nd, when those Longthorns come into Pauley Pavilion for a good old fashioned whooping!

Nice pics you have up...

Are you talking about basketball or something? *yawn* I went to Texas Tech and the University of Texas, so if we're talking b-ball, I gotta go with the Red Raiders. Bobby Knight and all. He's dialed it down quite a few notches, so he's not nearly as entertaining as he used to be.

Glad you liked the pics on my blog. I just discovered they are thumbnails and if you click on them they become giant.

Yarn porn coming this weekend.

Texas Tech and Texas huh? Do you have two degrees?

Yeah, I was talking B-Ball. Since we already own you in football I figured we'd just complete the circuit. ;)

I can see how you would go with Bobby Knight though. He's got an incredible resume, even if he has dialed it down the past several years. Texas was pretty hot last year though.

Dude, you really have to get over this delusion of UCLA "owning" Texas in football. That was ten years ago. Have the Bruins even met the Longhorns on the field since then? Maybe an adjustment in your meds would help.

I do wish Bobby Knight would throw a few chairs or something.

Now I have yarn porn to upload to my blog.
