I started taking Geodon for bipolar depression. It really helped me start coming out of the depression. I did have side effects to begin with. Feeling a little manic to begin with-80mg. Crying episodes at 160mg. An episode of restless legs. Then still had anxiety and intrusive thoughts at 240mg for a little while. But how much of this was related to Geodon or just coming out of a depression. The side effects did pass. I feel Geodon really helped with my depression.

You need to take it with food. You don't want to miss doses because it has a short half-life and makes me feel funky. All in all I'm glad I take it. I do think it is a med that you either love it or hate it.

Im not so sure I like it. I was in a mixed episode when I started taking it and it took away the depression, but left the mania. Im still a bit manic (hypo) after a couple months of being on this stuff. It makes me very sleepy, so I take it all at night (160 mg). My pdoc doesn't think the Geodon is what is causing the mania so he wont take me off of it, yet. Ymmv, so you may have a great experience with it. It's just not that great of a drug for me.

It really depends on what side effects you get, and why you need it. You could get tired, have anxiety, or even a mix of both. It may or may not help depression, and I had a particularly nasty time going off it.

But, given that it did nothing but give me a hard time, it was still worth taking for the chance that it could have worked well. It does do that for some. Take it and see.
