chinacat
Someone--PLEASE explain to me the difference between ultra rapid cycling, and ultraradian cycling. IS there a diffference? Thanks!
sepia
I think ultradian cycling is technically ultra ultra rapid cycling. Rapid cycling is wishfully defined by the DSM as more than four bipolar episodes in a single year. (Heh.) Plain ultra rapid cycling seems to be a grey area. Has anyone conclusively defined this one yet?
JBella
I finally looked it up, because I had been wondering and just too lazy to do it. So... rapid cycling: 4 episodes in a 12 month period ultra rapid cycling: 4 or more episodes in a 1 month period ultra ultra rapid cycling or ultradian cycling: 4 or more episodes in a 24 hour period Episodes defined as a depressed, manic, hypomanic, or mixed state. Well, now I know. I am a ultra rapid cycler who is going through a ultradian period at the present time. It sucks more when you know the technical term for it. I should have kept my curious brain on day time TV.
