Walsingham
long story short I've responded to two medications: risperdal and prozac, those were partial responses at best, the prozac I took for over a year and I stopped it about three months ago, risperdal I took for two months right about the same period I was stopping the prozac, both lifted me some but not past the line where I could function/think/enjoy things so september I had a course of unilateral treatments cause I was desperate for some relief, not really as a last resort as I still had meds to try, anyways it didn't work, we tried a few more meds for a month or so...nadda doc wants to retry prozac saying ECT changes your brain chemistry so I might respond again even though I had totally plateaued on it, I'm not too opimtistic since I didn't respond to the ECT so I'm not sure it did anything like fix my brain chemistry and I really can't afford to waste more time barking up the wrong tree here does anyone have any experiences, opinions or scientific evidence on this? I can't speak to the ECT aspect as I've never undergone it. I've never heard from anyone that ECT changes your brain chemistry so that you would respond differently to meds. My thought: some people respond less well to a med after taking it and then going off it. I had this experience with Paxil. It's not as though it didn't work as well the second or third round of it, but it was definitely less effective. That said, there are plenty of other meds available that you can/might respond to. Even though Paxil doesn't work as well as it did for me, I take Effexor now and it works well.
Walsingham
related question: has anyone here had any sucess with a med they had previously plateaued on by going off for it 3-4 months then trying it again?
