i dont think so but, is there a difference between citalopram hbr & citalopram without the hbr?

i thought they were the same thing but the online pharmacy through my insurance says i take citalopram hbr tabs 40MG Tablet (generic)

but could save me money if i order citalopram tabs 40MG Tablet (generic) (without the hbr)

through them.

so, is there a difference in the 2 and of so, what is the difference? thanks in advance.

The hydrobromide is likely to be a little bit more expensive to manufacture, but it may dissolve easier in stomach acid. I've no idea whether that translates into noticeably better drug delivery in the case of citalopram. All other things being equal, 40 mg of citalopram would contain more drug molecules than 40 mg citalopram hbr, but the manufacturers almost certainly account for that in their dosage labelling.

I would personally try the generic once, just to see if there would be much of a difference for me.
