Snow White
Ok, I've been on the Sertraline for about a month now and the Thyroxine for about 6 weeks. The past couple of weeks I've had almost no appetite and have to force myself to eat, which is not like me at all. I don't know whether I should be worried about this as I do need to shift some weight but I'm not sure it's ok for my appetite to be so poor. Anyone else get this? KatM
I started Zoloft (Sertraline) a week ago. It killed the little appetite I had left. Like you I have to force myself to eat. No good advice, just that you're not alone.
null0trooper
This might be stupid advice, but have you tried a program where the recommended eating plans not only have a maximum number of calories but also a minimum? That way, you may not feel like eating but at the end of the day you know you've covered the dietary bases you need to. I'm not sure if Weight Watchers does this, but that might be one to check out. Come to think of it, that doesn't help make you want to eat. If it becomes difficult to maintain your weight, some of the antihistamine/sedating ADs have a reputation for increasing hunger (Remeron comes to mind) - you could always ask your doctor to consider adding a low dose of one of those. (Treating side effects with side effects. There's gotta be something wrong with the idea)
Snow White
Thanks, but I've been on Remeron(Mirtazepine)and it made me mega fat!!! I need to lose weight so I'm content to keep barely eating but I'm not sure if it's a good idea in terms of being healthy in general. However being overweight is just as unhealthy... I take a multivitamin and when I do eat, it's fruit or veges so my vitamin/mineral intake probably isn't too bad??? I'm just afraid of aggravating my ED. I'm no longer binging and I don't want to starve myself but the meds are making it very easy. SW

SW it does, really quickly. please, don't take advantage of your loss of appetite. i am a total hypocrite and not quite in control right now from having done this with effexor. and now lamictal. catch it now. be good to yourself. null0trooper
Thanks, but I've been on Remeron(Mirtazepine)and it made me mega fat!!! I thought that was one of the main complaints. The point being that there are ways of getting your body to remind you to eat if the appetite suppression is kicking in too hard. Of course it's better to just get in a habit of eating healthily on a regular schedule (not that I do, and that's not healthy for me.) I take a multivitamin and when I do eat, it's fruit or veges so my vitamin/mineral intake probably isn't too bad??? Probably not too bad. However, if you're not vegetarian I'd really recommend working in some meat - maybe fish for the EFAs.
