Could Abilify be causing my stomach problems?

Recommended Posts

For a few months, i have had nausea and heartburn. I am on Promethazine for nausea and Protonix for heartburn. I have seen my GP and a GI and they can't find a reason. I've had an upper GI and an ab. ultrasound, both showed nothing wrong. i'm wondering if abilify could be causing the nausea. I was thinking about going off abilify to see if it might be the cause. Here's some questions. If anyone can answer them to the best of their knowledge or from experience, I would greatly appreciate it.

1. Has anyone had abilify cause nausea so bad you had to go off it. Nausea that didn't go away. I can't remember if it started right after I started taking it, but it's the newest addition to my coctail.

2. Anyone know anything about dopamine weirdness that can cause motility of the stomach ( delayed emptying) due to dopamine hitting the dopamine in your stomach.

3. What would be a good withdrawal timeline for 7.5 mg. of abilify.

Thank you for any replies.

I finally decided to switch back to seroquel. I don't know if the abilify is/was the cause, but it's only been 2 days off abilify adn on seroquel. The good news is i finally got 2 good nights of sleep in a row and my anxiety has been squashed! I guess that's reason enough to go off abilify. My pdoc probably thinks I'm nuts for switching back and forth. So far, i haven't had the intense cravings on seroquel. Hoping i won't. I have lost 25 pounds, maybe more, i haven't weighed myself in a while. Hoping seroquel doesn't make me pack em back on. Using will power. Telling myself, if I get the appetite increase that I don't have to give in and there are people who don't gain weight on seroquel or who lose the weight they gained.
