An obsessional image

Recommended Posts

Hello to CrazyBoards: I want to write and I find it excruciating to write; I have six paintings I cannot finish, I just keep asking for brushes; at any one time I have almost a hundred books borrowed from libraries. I wanted to something more specific about myself. Here's something that probably makes no sense:

Early last summer a robin kept attacking my window, every few minutes, for two weeks. He could not unfix his image from the pane. Repeatedly, his whole fat mass would whack against it, then fly at it again. I became scared of the process never ending

Thanks, zenbean. Sorry for writing so abstractedly. I am obsessing quite a bit lately. OCD with few compulsions. Things like, "did I say something to mislead/offend that person?" where I'll sit with phone in hand for hours trying to talk myself out of calling to apologize to someone I barely know for an offense I've probably not committed. That's how it's affected me lately. Meanwhile I spin through ridiculous consequences, and remembered snippets of my conversations get lodged in my mind. There's a large social/verbal component to my OCD... besides phobias, indecision. I was worried about posting, too.

But, I'm glad to be here.

Howdy!

I too am a big fun of Dada and Surrealism. When I was studying art my main expressions were Installation and Performance Art. Surrealism is relevant today - look at advertising and the "selling" of a surreal world where all your worries and dreams are met by buying said X product.

With regards the robin it probably thought the reflection was a rival as they are extremely territorial. However I did relate to your thoughts - watching nature can provide numerous answers and philisophical thoughts - very Zen!

It also is a classic example of repeating a behaviour which is ultimately self-defeating and not learning from it - insanity!

Anyway I'm probably rambling!!!

Hawk ;)
