ehygon
I was wondering about combining AAPs, specifically the two in the topic title. I'm on 2mg of risperdal, and was wondering what would happen if I took 2.5mg of zyprexa on top of that? I dont have any z right now, I was going to go see my neighbor(dr) about getting some. I ask about combining them, because I don't want to take z constantly, i want it on an as needed basis for like, the next three weeks, so i can finish my exams instead of punching my own ticket. SO basically, I want to know if people do it. I'm not looking for advice to do it myself/to not do it. If it's not possible to combine them that way, I don't wanna bother my neighbor. usernametaken
coming out of the hospital i was on those 2 at very high doses, so i wouldn't say there's a lethal interaction. does your pdoc help? based on my experience, except to be exhausted, capable of sleeping 15+ hours a day, again high doses, and sheer chemical boredom, akk
Sophia
I took both for a short time, very short because the 15+ hour sleeping that usernametaken mentioned kept me from being able to do anything. I wouldn't suggest taking both if you're hoping to study for finals. You try upping the Risperdal if you feel you need something "extra" to get you through the next few weeks, that's less likely to disable you so much you can't study. Yeah you can combine antipsychotics, like you can combine antidepressants. However, I doubt its a first line option and think its better to stick to one antipsychotic. Unless your doctor has a valid reason to mix two APs. My doc says that the more meds you add, the more med interactions (meds affecting each other in the body). He added that he didn't like to prescribe more than 4 molecules in a med combo for a patient. I'd consider raising the Risperdal dose instead of adding Zyprexa, like someone else mentionned above.
