trg247
Hi: Every day for the last week or so my body has become stiffer and stiffer. So I just ignored it and carried on using Motrin to help or what ever. Now it is beginning to hurt and effecting the way I sleep. I have an appointment in four days and I am positive Nardil (MAOI) is the reason. Should I just stop taking it til then or cut down on the dose? Any other solutions? It feels like I have been working out for two hours straight and my body is stuck there yet I have done nothing. Any ideas? take care trg247

It feels like I have been working out for two hours straight and my body is stuck there yet I have done nothing. Any ideas? From the PI sheet for Parnate (another irreversible MAOI): "CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience a severe headache, changes in heartbeat, neck stiffness nausea, vomiting, or chest pain" Difficulty sleeping is in the "CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY" category. (underline emphasis mine, caps and quotes verbatim) You say you have an appointment in four days - does the doctor even know you're having these problems yet? Considering the long taper-off period for an MAOI, you probably could get some relief by cutting the dose or discontinuing - but only with a doctor's OK. Even emergency responders have to know if you're on one of these meds, so this isn't a choose-your-own-dose medication.
trg247
Hi: Thanks for the quick reply. The stiffness pretty much starts from the belly button up. I am still on the starting dose of Nardil (15mg x3 a day) and was suppose to go up on Wednesday at thhe appointment. Nah I haven't told my doctor anything, last time I saw him was when I was discharged from the hospital and not in the mood to repeat that experience a day. Thanks again take care trg247
