Hello folks,I'm new around here & just found the forum through a post made on facebook in one of the depression groups.

I've been in treatment for depression now since late july & am taking Lexapro,20 mgs per day along with Vistaril as needed to relieve stress & anxiety. My depression started a few months after my brother's 2nd child was born & became steadily worse since then.

My tdoc has also diagnosed me as having many of the classic symptoms/signs of AS as well(I'm actually glad to see that there's an ASD forum here on the boards so I can get some socialization tips as well) & as a result it makes it very difficult for me to socialize well with others....especially in the areas of dating/relationships so it's no suprise that, since I'm 34 & still single while my brother & sister are both married with two children each in their respective families that I became depressed over having no social life/relationship of my own.

Mike, welcome to Crazyboards. You will probably meet other people with the same social issues and we all have advice to give! ;) You may want to ignore some of it, but there's lots of it around.

I'm glad you found us and please ask questions.

Hi Mike - welcome aboard - yup....sometimes warm and fuzzy and sometimes kick in the pants is what you get here, but you're welcome to say get lost if you don't like what you hear....much better to ignore it though....lol. Feel free to jump in and join in the fun - we love new perspectives....and you're taking one of my favorite drugs ;) .

by AS do you mean Asperger's? if so, i'm glad to see another 'not quite autie, not quite normal' person around here. socialization sucks.

Yes,that's what I meant by AS.My tdoc tends to believe that there are definitely plenty of symptoms related to the disorder present in my particular case. Thanks for the welcome BTW & happy holidays. ;)

(who the hell is "normal" around here, and what does it mean anyway?)

Hi there Mike, I just love your Avatar ;)

Lots of us ASD types around here, welcome to the board

I think we have to work on getting the NT Dr's to understand we're not actually reasonably capable people on the whole though...

I was with my mum this morning (and a bit physically unwell so she was doing alot of the talking and mentioned I was AS to the Dr when explaining something) and the Dr kind of looked at me funny and when I had to fill in my name and address for records, he handed it to my my mum and asked her to fill it out for me... hmmm. No mate, not that disabled ... lol

Anyway... welcome, hope to see you around the board :)
