synthea
Hi - does anyone have an opinion on which stimulant is easiest on the belly? I have been on Ritalin (immediate release) to boost my anti-depressant and it has totally thrashed my stomach. I've been bloated and belching and nauseous for a few weeks now and my doctor has taken me off the Ritalin and my Celebrex. I'm on a double dose of Pantaloc to see if it will heal... The ritalin was really helping so i am hoping to find something to replace it once my stomach is healed... thoughts? thanks, Christina
null0trooper
The ritalin was really helping so i am hoping to find something to replace it once my stomach is healed... thoughts? I'm a little surprised that Ritalin was rough on your stomach, but I haven't taken it myself. Adderall would be another stimulant to try, although it doesn't absorb as well if your stomach pH is too high. Either way, I'd suggest an extended-release version of whatever you try next. I was surprised too but my stomach was probably already compromised from long term anti-inflammatories... I think we will try something extended release next time. crazycatnapper
I've never tried Ritalin, but I know some stimulants can cause stomach issues; however, I have been told they tend to go away once your body adjusts to them. That can take time and a slow titration up to a working dose. I took anti-nausea meds when I tried Provigil the last time, but it didn't help and I had to discontinue. Funny how great it worked on two previous occasions, but made me sick as a dog last time. I think stress plays a role in how our bodies respond to meds, but that's just my two cents. I agree with null0trooper about trying a timed release variety next. Good luck.
