raining
So it was 4am and I still didn't felt like sleeping. Decided that it was in my best interest to take something to knock me out. I decided to take 25mg of Seroquel. I felt asleep in about an hour. I did not wake up until 14 hours later. I tried very hard to wake up. When I finally did manage to, I am incredibly hungover and could hardly walk straight. I hate hate hate hate Seroquel. It's worse than Doxylamine. Antiks
I made the mistake of taking 200mg of Seroquel to knock me out, not only did it but it wiped me out for most of the next day too.
lachesis
When I first started taking it (25-50-100mg) I could not even walk and yeah I slept for 24 hours. Now I am up to 900mg and without side effects.
Rabbit37
Your body has to adjust. I take 50mg, 4x a day, and then 600 at night. *If* I'm even groggy the next morning, after 8 hours of sleep, a cup of coffee is all it takes to feel "normal" again (whatever that is). Give it a chance... I love the stuff. It works differently on everyone... I love/NEED the calming effect of the daily doses, it keeps me from raging, or at least keeps the raging under quasi-control. What is it that's a recommended trial... 6 weeks for a new drug? Be patient.
r.mcmurphy
i have them on hand and when i am trashed from insomnia will quarter one and use it for to get some sleep. one half has me careening off the walls when the inevitable trip to the pissoir gets me up. that is some strong stuff. glad, really glad that i do not need it for therapeutic reasons. borzage
Even now that I'm adjusted, I would never take 25 mg at 4am unless I wanted to sleep in til noon. Try taking it at your normal bedtime. You will adjust to it in 10-14 days. Seroquel is a good drug.
ChemistryExperiment
I hate seroquel too. However I'm allergic to it. Nothing like drinking benadryl for a fun day.
tek
Just another "it will get better!" reply. It really does. The first time I took 25mg, I was knocked out within 30 minutes. Which is fairly amazing considering I have really bad initial insomnia and even Ambien wasn't reliably strong enough to do that. I've been taking anywhere from 25-100mg a night for almost 3 months and it still gets me to sleep. I can get up fine the next morning, though there are times I'm a bit groggy. I have better luck when taking it at least 10 hours before I need to be "truly" awake (i.e. at work).
quiet storm
I've been taking 200mg seroquel XR for a little over two weeks now. It doesnt really make me tired at night anymore and I'm stiall having to take lunesta to get to sleep. BUT once I am asleep I am sleeping MUCH better. None of the early morning awakening I was getting just on the lunesta alone. Plus it has helped my mood. My mind is alot calmer.
IHeartAAPs
I love Seroquel. I take 100mg in the morning and 200mg at bedtime. I also take it PRN throughout the day (100mg) and I hardly even notice it anymore other than feeling calmer and thinking more clearly. I also sleep almost exactly 8 hours every night. Frankly, I don't even know how I would sleep without it. Zyprexa and Geodon will knock me out, but the effect isn't as smooth as Seroquel IMO. XxMidnitexX
my pdoc put me on seroquel for sleep back on the 21st after trying alot of diff drugs to sleep, i was remeron at first for a anti depressent and sleep, then spent yrs on imovane for yrs, i had to go off and on it because i gained such a tolerance i would end up abusing it, then he tried trazadone, did nothing, then two months ago temazepam, it didnt work, like it made me sleep, but only after hours of being awake, now the seroquel, it makes me sleep, but still delayed, and that lasted only a couple days, now im mixing the seroquel and the temazepam, finally falling asleep with a couple clonazepam in the mix before bed. it feels good to finally sleep, but i hate the fact i wake up with most the day over, like late afternoon, with all my other meds im on i feel like im a zombie the rest of the time but ya my point least to me seroquel sucks just alone for sleep, and my pdoc would kill me probably if he knew i was mixing the drugs (picked up my temazepam a day before i saw my pdoc so had a extra 30). i feel like such an addict tho just to get a few hours sleep
