diamondgirl
Hi peoples, ok this is my situation i have spoke alot about my doctor not feeling the need to up my lamictal but she has declined saying that "if i raise any more of your meds it might make you more spacy." But now, i havent had a good night sleep in over a week. I just wake up after a couple of hours and then just toss and turn. I didn't say anything to her the last time i seen her because i wanted her to raise the lamictal and hope that this sleep pattern would pass. But it didn't, and i have become so tired all the time and drained. I did reach the covering doctor and she said something else might be going on but maybe the seroquel had reached its peak and maybe adding alittle bit more might help me sleep. I was a little weary, but anxious and a little excited on finally getting some sleep. But last night when i raised it i felt more awake ,Strangely awake. NOt like before when i got tired right away but couldn't sleep, this time i got tired after a while but it was like i had to force myself to sleep and still just toss and turned. I don't know what to do, I don't know if i should keep on taking this new dose or go back to my other one. I hate to call my pdoc, the last time i scheduled for a sooner appt. she was kinda puzzled at that, and still didn't do anything. Anyways, i am not sure why this new dose ain't working maybe, or i need to be a little more patient, but usually it works right away. I don't know but i definelty can't keep going on like this. Sorry for sounding so depressing and sorry if it seems like i am posting about alot of the same things. I don't know, just tired.
Velvet Elvis
A lot of people have found that seroquel is more sedating at lower doses. Since sleep deprivation can induce mania, it definately needs to be treated as a main part of your problem and not a secondary pain in the ass. AirMarshall
When are you taking Lamictal? Try taking it in the morning. It is a paradoxical drug that some find energizing (me) and others find is sligthly sedating. When I took it at night I would actually make me more alert and delay my sleep for hours. switching to morning dose helped immensely. As VE said, Seroquel tends to be sedating at very low doses like (maybe 100mg and lower), while at higher doses (maybe 300mg) it is no longer sedating but has greater AP properties. Adequate sleep is the basis for mental stability, so it's not something to be poo-poo'ed or endured. If you don't get any improvement in sleep or feel yourself slipping, don't hesitate to call your doc again. Be sure you are doing all the good "sleep hygiene" things. No caffiene within 12 hours of bedtime, no activities in bedroom but sleep & love (no tv, computers etc), start turning down lights and relaxing an hour before bedtime. best, a.m.
diamondgirl
Thanks you guys for replying i did go back to my previous dose, i slept very well the first night and yesterday, yet i am still very tired all the time. But at least i am sleeping better, hopefully this continues. And a.m. i take my lamictal in the morning and at night 50/50. but from what i read i think that people who are on it usually take it once daily conj. with other meds other than meds like depakote. I hope that makes sense. Thanks again
