ChemistryExperiment
I'm in search of a new migraine medicine/ mood stabilizer. Mood stabiliizers that didn't work: Lithium Depakote Lamictal Neurontin Migraine Meds that didn't work Depakote Zonegran Neurontin HELP! I was thinking topamax. crazynotstupid
I'm in search of a new migraine medicine/ mood stabilizer. As soon as I saw that I thought "topamax". Why not just DO IT?
ChemistryExperiment
I'll ask my migraine specialist about it! I see her in not THAT long... few weeks.
jmb252
It's a weird one, but I was given Verapamil for cluster headaches. Got me into remission, though I did lactate on it. (I was also on Risperdal and Lexapro at the time, and my then-medical confab and I figured out it was the combination of the three that pushed my hormones over the edge.) Its primary use is as a heart med, but my GP wanted to give it a go for the headaches because he'd had success with it before.
ChemistryExperiment
I just went off of verapamil myself. On my own accord. It was dropping my blood pressure too low when I was resting... to where I had troubles passing out and stuff.
jmb252
I was lucky enough to go into headache remission before it really messed with my blood pressure (which is abnormally low anyway). Topa didn't do anything for my headaches, but I wasn't on it very long before it started causing cripping abdominal pain. It did a bit for my mood, but not enough to stay on it with the pains. I'm trying to remember the other weird off-labels my docs tried with me, or suggested trying. A year without medical care and I forgot everything, it seems. I'll keep thinking and give a look through my notebooks to see if I have anything written down.
CER
I'm on Topamax, and have been on it for over a year for migraines. Honestly, it's the only thing that's worked for me. It's cut them way down.
