Guest renegade master
Hi, It seems like it's been almost a year from when this topic was discussed (i found it on google search for adderall IR). Anyway, I have a question on adderall, so if anyone reads, here it goes: Is there a difference between brand adderall IR vs. generic in terms of quality and effectiveness? I was previously on Adderall XR, and honestly I'm quite comfortable with the XR, very smooth, kicks in about 30-40 mins, hardly can tell when it wears out. In fact, that "hardly can tell when it wears out" part was the reason I switched to IR today for trial at least. I used to take XR 30 mg early in the morning, but I could hardly fall asleep at night. It lasted too long, although the peak effects were gone after 6-8 hours. To be honest, I loved XR especially on days i worked on tv/film sets where your work day is anywhere from 12 to 16 long draining hours.. But not every day I do that and sometimes I had shorter days, so I decided to try IR.. I actually wanted to try dexedrine (i dont know how different) because it's supposed to last as long with immediate release but last about 6 hours or so (relatively shorter) on extended release spansules, and supposed to be a bit more intense throughout since it's a bit more potent from what i read. she was going to prescribe me that but then for some reason changed her mind and said try adderall IR instead using a few maneuvering excuses, so I got prescribed 60 x 30mg adderall IR, 2x30mg a day. This is actually twice the dose than i was taking before, because i was previously taking 1x30mg XR. So i actually expected even some euphoric peak when i was taking it. but even though it's been an hour since i took my 30mg IR, i feel nothing. It's yet to kick in, but it hasn't. Could it have anything with it being generic instead of brand adderall? I was going to buy brand adderall but the pharmacy didn't have that many adderall 30 mg in stock, they said they have generic, and i asked whether it would work exactly the same, they said it will because it's the same ingredients. it doesn't have any generic brand name on it, it only says "dextroamphetamine/amphetamine salt combo" and from walgreens. could it be the factor why it hasn't worked so far. i took it late at night tonight because i need to do late night editing work. i liked the fact that 60 pills cost me $70, vs. 30 XR pills of same dose (30mg) had cost me $150+ in walgreens (or $124 at vons' pharmacy instead), but i hope lack of effectiveness is not the payoff with generic. thanks. Guest renegade master
ok i take it back. it kicked in with a bang. in fact, a bit too intense.. like meth almost.. perhaps i should try half a pill next time. thanks.
Sunshine
I've been taking XR for several years, but when I was taking IR, I personally noticed no difference between generic and brand. However, despite what everyone tries to tell us, while the "active" ingredients are the same between brand and generic, the fillers usually are not. And even the active ingredients can vary by up to 10% (per the US FDA). So it's NOT "just in your head" if you notice a difference between a generic and brand medication. And like all other crazy meds, what works for one person may not work for another. For example, the generic Ambien from TEVA didn't work for him, but worked fine for me. Prasco also works fine for me. But my pharmacy recently switched to Apotex and it didn't work at all for me. Go figure.
Guest .
The generic you got from Walgreens in my opinion is horrible. Do an internet search and there are literally articles devoted to complaints regarding this version of adderall. It is a pink pill. I started a few months ago on generic Adderall from Eon labs which worked good. However, I went to Walgreens last week to fill my new prescription for this month and got those. I figured they would work the same but I was wrong...huge difference. I was irritable, speedy, had a really bad headache, and more... This version actually made me want to concentrate less and do random things. I would take this version if I wanted a bunch of energy and perhaps as a performance enhancer. But that is not why I take Adderall. I take it to help me with my ADHD. Anyways, this incident prompted me to not bother with any of the generic forms and just pay the extra co-pay for the brand name IR 30mg. My pharmacy had to special order it because virtually no pharmacy carries the name brand on hand. It will come in a few days and I'm sure it will be better than the cheap pink ones. FYI, for some reason I don't really trust the company that makes these generic pink ones. They are a small company and obviously have to make the drug very cheap. The FDA is also significantly less stringent on generic drugs. They are allowed by law to be less pure than the name brand. Also, who do you think is actually regulating and enforcing these guidelines on these cheap companies? What do they do; go to the factory every day and observe? Highly unlikely. Guest Trey
Hello all, I have been taking Adderall xr 25mg and Adderall IR 20mg for about 6months. The xr in the morning when I first wake and the IR between noon and 1pm. This combo works great for me. The IR version is from Walgreens, I think Corepharma is the manufacturer, it's a pinkish colored pill. I have had no trouble with this medication at all. Good luck to all. Guest Guest
The generic Adderall is now made by Barr as well. I had severe reaction the pink 15mg Barr and do not want to waste money on Name Brand if its made by the same company now. The Eon seem to work fine. Guest kels
I was taking Adderall XR 30 mg once a day on days that I had a lot of stuff to do and then Adderall IR 15mg 1-2 times a day when I didn't have as much to do. However, I moved recently and had to get a new doctor for whatever reason this doctor feels that it's necessary to start me on 1.5 10mg twice a day of the generic Amphetamine salt combo tabs. I go to Kaiser and I'm not sure if I have to specifically request the actually name brand of Adderall or tell my doctor, but since I've been taking the generic version I've experienced horrible headaches and nausea that I never experienced with my old Adderall regime. My doctor says that I need to wait for my body to adjust to the change - but he seems a little slow because not only does the generic version make me feel sick but it has no effect!!! Should I change doctors or what? Suggestions??

In most cases a pharmacy will fill a prescription with a generic unless the prescription is written specifying a name brand as medically necessary. Even then, if your insurance company charges a higher co-pay for non-generics you'll probably have to pay at the higher scale. My doctor says that I need to wait for my body to adjust to the change - but he seems a little slow because not only does the generic version make me feel sick but it has no effect!!! Should I change doctors or what? Suggestions?? In the case of "mixed amphetamine salts" there are a number of different companies providing a generic formulation. Since you don't seem sure which one is causing the problem, beyond the knowledge that it's a generic, I'm not at all certain that you would have better results with a different doctor. starr22
So I've been taking Adderall on and off for the past year. I pretty much flunked out one semester due to my depression/slight eating disorder-whatever you want to label it and my "physician" put me on adderall. (Threw in a bottle of prozac too, as if you can just take that for fun, right?) Anyway, never touched the prozac. I thought I was getting the regular adderall (nongeneric) but maybe not...according to some, you have to specifically ask for the actual stuff or the pharmacy will just give you the generic brand? Anyway, I've never had TOO many problems with it. Always took 10-15 mg at the MOST. Recently, I was given 15mg pills and break them into quarters, taking one to two a day. HORRIBLE side effects. I have the God awful pink pills...D-Amphetamine Salt Combo - MF BARR as some of you have mentioned... I had a severe headache for two days (couldn't figure out why...) but I was OFF adderall for a good week by then. I stopped taking it because I feel like I lose all of my emotions. I feel like crying at random moments, but can't seem to feel emphathetic towards those closest to me...put it this way, I care so much about them, but no longer know how to show it. Silly me, I checked the bottle today, shocked to see it WASN'T Adderall, but a generic. I called my physician, waiting to hear back... I can't say whether or not I was on regular Adderall before because I no longer have the bottles. This generic crap makes me nauseous, lacking focus/concentration. It's almost like a get a high from it, but ever 3-4 hours I need to take it again or I want to punch a wall and scream. I start feeling like I am going to go out of control. Its a terrible feeling and I hope no one has to ever feel like I have for the past few days... Heads up-pinkish/peachish pill from WALGREENS. I agree with whoever else said it, I never plan to go to that pharmacy again. I have a feeling XR would be way too much for me...advice anyone? Or better yet, are other people feeling similar effects from this stuff? Ive been wanting to punch walls and couldn't figure it out for the longest time. I have always been an extremely calm person... Any insight would be awesome. Thanks!

I do not wish to dig into your personal life, but based on what you've said, these pills may or may not be making your situation worse. Any doctor should know that adderall and its generics cause a moderate to severe decrease in appeitite, depending on the person. This is a bad combination with an eating disorder. Adderal is not to be used to treat depression, as it can mess with neurotransmitter levels, more specifically dopamine, and if you've been experiencing depression that's the worst thing to do. An anti depressive/mood stablizer would be much more appropriate for your depressive tendencies, and may help you do better in school. Adderal seems to be not the right fit for you. I'm taking the 15mg IR salt combo currently, and I actually like it. Everyone has different reactions to drugs, and it's ok if one doesn't work for you, as there are many other options. I recommend swtiching and seeing how another one works. I am no doctor, and you may take my advice at your own risk, i'm merely trying to help a person with a similar situation to mine. I hope everything works out for you in the future. Have a sit down with this physician or psychiatrist and try to work out another solution. Good luck

In reality, amphetamine triggers the release of both noradrenaline and dopamine, the latter of which is the least commonly-targeted neurotransmitter in treating depression. While amphetamine is not a first-line or even second-line treatment for depression, it is in fact used as an adjunct in treating "treatment-resistent" depression. I've no idea why you're worried about the effects of amphetamine on an eating disorder that the poster didn't even talk about. The doctor may be a "quack" or maybe not. You only have the word of an anonymous person on the internet who seemed quite proud of not taking the prescribed antidepressant. Whether or not any given antidepressant would work for the "depressive tendencies" that the poster didn't describe, let alone whether an anticonvulsant would, is something I doubt anyone would have an informed opinion on. Guest genericsSuck
After years of buying adderall and ritalin in high school/college to get by...I finally talked to my doc about getting treated and was honest with him. He started me off on 10mg generic, and it did nothing. Bumped me to 20mg generic 2X times a day and though it was way better then nothing, I noticed a lot of side affects. Took it for 10 months, and decided to switch to Ritalin as the adderall just stopped working and all I got was negative side affects. Anyhow, got ritalin generic and felt horrible on it, did some research finally on generic vs. brand and took it back to my doc after 3 weeks and got a new script for brand (cost me $170 vs. $15 co-pay cause Aetna sucks donkey balls...once I get to $250 for the year I will only pay $40 per script, and I pay $250/month for insurance already...yippee). Noticed right away the difference, less side affects, worked better, lasted longer. I plan now after this script is up to ask my doc to put me back on the adderall but go with brand only. The point I wanted to make is that I compare generic vs. brand like comparing bankers club/popav or some other cheap vodka to drinking grey goose. The chemical compound alcohol is the same in every alcoholic beverage, but if you drink 3 martinis of grey goose vs. 3 martinis of cheap shit, you will feel way better the next day. Ever drink a lot of cheap beer and get the shits the whole next day and feel horrible? Same theory... sure, chemicals are the same but the quality of ingredients used to make them are not. Every forum I read seems that especially with these types of meds the brand works better then generic. The pharm companies own the FDA, of course the FDA and companies are going to say there stuff is just as good and the "same" chemical active ingredients, if they didnt nobody would buy them its all about money. Would you go to a bar and order a "bankers club on the rocks"? Hell no unless you wanted to cringe every time you took a sip, feel a dirty drunk all night and feel horrible the next day. Bottom line...if you can afford it stick with brand, or at least try both. Everybody reacts different, but from what I can tell there is DEF a difference here just like with booze. In other words your Adderal 20mg brand most likley does not contain exactly 20 mg. Even all the pills from the same bottle can vary tablet to tablet. The next lot from the Adderal factory might be different again and this is allowable by the FDA. Sctientifically there is not reason a generic should not work as well unless you are allergic or sensitive to the inactive ingredients which can be different. Alex Pharm.D. nalgas
It is true that the FDA allows a certain variation percentage between a brand and generic drus but what consumers do not realize that these same variations are allowed between lots and batches of the same brand drug. That is definitely true, but I feel like I read somewhere that the variation allowed for generics is a bit larger than for the branded one. I'd have to go look it up again to be sure. Either way, to get every single pill from every batch to be exactly identical would be extraordinarily hard (but possible). And people think their meds cost too much now... Sctientifically there is not reason a generic should not work as well unless you are allergic or sensitive to the inactive ingredients which can be different. Some of the ones that get the most complaints are the extended release ones (hi there, Wellbutrin), which I suspect is because of them releasing at a different rate. The one I've noticed the biggest difference with for myself is Keppra, whose generic seems to kick in and then wear off dramatically faster than the branded one. I imagine it's something to do with the inactive binders/fillers/whatever being different and it getting broken down and absorbed faster after I swallow it, but I really have nothing to support that other than taking a wild guess. Anyway, as far as the actual topic goes, I've never taken the brand version of Adderall, but I started the generic this spring and am very pleased with it, despite it being the Barr one lots of people are bitching about. Well, I was very pleased until 5 mg stopped being enough for me. We'll see if it starts working again properly after I bump it up to 7.5 or 10 over the next week or two. I had some of the issues people are complaining about with the generic version of Adderall when I tried switching to Dexedrine briefly, but, at least for me, the generic Adderall seems to work how everyone says the brand one does. Guest ADDman
So i have taken the generic Adderall 20 mg for like 3 years and it has worked but i just switched to brand and i am fuckin glad i did because it is so much cleaner. To all those who have encountered the dreaded pink pills, my girlfriend took one and got sick as fuck, but she was fine with all other versions. Well she is lactose intolerant, as are MANY people who mostly dont know that they are. I think there was lactose in those pink pills because they made me feel shitty too, especially after my second dose....just felt very uncontrolled and rigid. The body is an extremely sensitive organism and even minor things can make it feel off-kilter. also one never REALLY knows what some small mexican company might be putting in as filler, or if they are REALLY using pharmaceutical grade Amphetamine, because there are many different amphetamine isomers that can come out if the chemist sucks. It is nice to THINK the FDA has our backs, but if you look at their track record with an open awareness you will see that they have missed the boat many times when it comes to regulation of drug manufacturing. montydad
I just had to chime in on this one, as I found this board via a Google search for "generic adderall". I lost my job a couple of months ago and got my own health insurance. The plan I chose would only cover generics, so I switched ALL my meds over to generic thinking "big deal", right? I switched to generic Paxil, generic Effexor and generic Adderall. Whoa. Talk about a bad trip. It took about a month, but one morning, out of the blue, that familiar wave of panic, anxiety and depression swept over me and almost knocked me over. I couldn't even look at my kids in the morning. It's been seven YEARS since I felt that way. Now that I have gotten another job, I went to the doc earlier this week and asked her to switch me back to the name-brand stuff. I'm now a totally different person. Since the generic Paxil and Effexor wouldn't be kicking in fully yet, I've got to assume that the generic Adderall was crap-tastic. Granted, it was dumb to switch everything all at once, but we were in a financial pinch. I'm never switching over to generics again. Just my two cents. Change to name-brand now...you will notice an immediate difference! :-) I tried the generic years ago when it first came available, I was so happy because it was much less expensive and like a lot of people my insurance doesn't cover this med. Well, of course I noticed RIGHT AWAY that it had a very different feel. It is, to me, a completely different drug. I have continued to pay the full price for Brand ever since whenever I have it filled. It is dissappointing and makes me feel like they think we are stupid, to think we won't notice any difference. Now that Barr owns it they have recently decided to change the original Brand name form! I found this out when I went to have my script filled as usual and when I went to take one I saw that it had a symbol on it instead of the usual AD. It is the same color and shape but if you look at it closely anyone who is familiar and happy with the original brand can tell it is a bit different looking as well besides the symbol. I tried it and it has that gross sweet taste that the generic had, the generic that I hated! Uggg. I called the pharmacy to see if she mistakenly filled my script with generic and she told me that the company's new bottle said, "new tablet identity". I explained that it was different altogether and she was very helpful in getting me Barr's # etc. She told me to ask them why they changed it and didn't tell anyone. I did this, and have called them twice now and another time before when I had taken their awful generic, they sort of got a protective, wierd attitude. About the "new identity" thing she got all sassy and told me that the FDA approved the new formulation and that is all they are required to inform us of(the new identity, that is) I was like, "take it easy, I am just trying to understand why it is different and what I can do about it since it doesn't work well for me". She kind of chilled out and said that someone would want to contact me to ask some questions etc. if I could help out with this? I said if it would make them change it back then of course. Anyway the whole back and forth with them kind of freaked me out a little, why are they so protective and so reluctant to share ANY info." They were soooo careful with their wording it was REDICULOUS... So basically I didn't get anywhere with that and haven't yet heard back from anyone. I think it is safe to assume that the "new formulation" is a cheaper version for them to make. It sucks. I am thinking of trying that new Vy.. something or other one. Can't think of the name at the moment. Has anyone else tried this "new tablet identity" one? The Barr representative said that some places will still have the original version but that they are no longer making it and it will eventually be depleated and replaced completely with this new formulation. Thoughts anyone? The "new" brand is also just as expensive as the old, much better, depleating version. Maybe a dollar or two cheaper. What are they thinking? I would take this version if I wanted a bunch of energy and perhaps as a performance enhancer. But that is not why I take Adderall. I take it to help me with my ADHD... That explains so much! I've been taking d-amphetamine for about 4 months now, and it seems like each time I get the script filled, it's a different product (often different stores w/i the same chain). This time I got the little pink pills and it was HORRIBLE! Just like you said, I was speedy and would spend forever trying to write a simple e-mail. Last month the same script was filled with orange pills and were perfect. The dose was correct, it came on smooth and delivered for the expected time, and didn't kill me when I was coming down. I started to think something was wrong with me. I'm going to go back to the store where I got the good ones. Thanks for the heads up. Just say no to the little pink pill! Guest MMM
I am not saying I don't agree with the majority of previous postings but FYI Adderall is sometimes prescribed to individuals experiencing atipical reactions to medications normally prescribed for depression or similar disorders. Sometimes the stimulant properties of drugs such as Adderall, or even Wellbutrin (aka an atypical antidepressant) are significantly helpful in treating certain indiviuals suffering from disorders within this spectrum. Definetely agree with the eating-disorder theory but there is a lot more to it.
Guest crissytsu
At first I thought my doctor gave me placebo when I took the 20mg BARR adderall...it literally did nothing to help me concentrate and it tasted like sugar. I prefer Eon Labs but my pharmacy stopped carrying it.
Guest Cozmic
ok i take it back. it kicked in with a bang. in fact, a bit too intense.. like meth almost.. perhaps i should try half a pill next time. thanks. I should hope it did kick in. Ive been taking it for about 6 months and sometimes I get the non-generic form from my pharmacy I find I like the generics better. Guest cheaplittleman
Hi, you definitely have to experiment to see what works for you, and I believe brand is stronger than generic. I'm pretty sure. Anyway, I was on the XR, and I like it for long days such as yourself. It also feels purer, but it does not allw me to sleep well causing me stress it catches up with me. So I am experimenting with IR. I take 8.25mgs in the morning, then 7.5 in 6hrs, and then if the day turns longer a small kick in the evening. 2.5 only expect super focust in the 4 hours after you take teh 2 big doses. I can sleep well, and its generic. I also like to boost the 15 xr with 2.5 mg of ir in the morning and dedicate that to my activities which require concentration. Haha i would like to have both on hand i'm keeping a log of effectes every day. laterss
Guest cheaplittleman
Hello, It happened to me as well XR does not allow me to sleep. In the end it caugght up with me, and my ADD symptoms seemed worse since I lacked sleep. I take Xanax sometimes to sleep, but I don't like to do it all the time: I think it made me dopey. Brand name is very expensive, but it is stronger. I've tried both the IR and XR brand. Lol the brand IR is really expensive, and feels diffrent. I switched to IR, and I take some to start the day, and then I take another bumper dose to keep it going. This works well, and it is far easier to fall asleep. On an off day like a Sunday I will only take the morning dose. The aformentioned are the benefits. The downside is that if you take too big a dose of IR it can give you a headache--similar to cofee--but, I consider it a small price to pay for being able to control the times you need a strong dose. On me the strong dose is the morning. Similar to coffee drink the large amounts in the morning, and get things done. The second dose allows me to keep going. The effect is not as clean with IR, the feeling is more in the head than in the body with the IR, but it wears off in about 5 hours, and I try not to take any too late. On XR it is almost as I can feel my heart thumping 10 hrs, but not so with IR. The doctor recommended 10 mgs in the morning, and a second dose of 5 mgs, and a 3rd if needed of 5 mgs. This seems a better option for me, I also feel more relaxed. Incidentally I only tried this because the high price of the XR propelled me to seek a lower cost alternative, because I lost my health insurance. I am keeping a daily log on Excel with doses and a scale from 1 to 10 on how it works, as well as notes. Bye.
TurdFerguson
Being that this is my first post around here (I just found this place a couple days ago) I didn't want to get off on the wrong foot and start a new thread when it didn't look needed, so hopefully someone reads this and can offer a little bit of help. I graduated college last fall, and am currently studying for a graduate school entrance exam. While in college, I began to suspect that with some of my concentration and attention span issues, I might have some form of ADD, but as I was living 5 hours away from my family in a small town without a car (so I rarely went home except for major holiday breaks), I didn't really bring it up to my family or get it medically addressed. A couple friends of mine had been diagnosed with ADD earlier in their lives, and offered me some Adderall to try (highly illegal, yes I know), and I found that it worked great- I felt like I could actually be entirely productive, get my work done as needed, and really helped me feel "normal" when it came to taking care of my school business, as opposed to when I had struggled before. I only ended up taking it from my friends a couple of times, for major deadlines or exams, as I didn't want to get hooked on anything and I decided to talk to a doctor on my own to seriously try and address my issue. A couple of months ago, I did finally see a doctor about it, and after trying Concerta and Vyvanse (neither of which did anything for me) she prescribed me Adderall. I'm currently taking Adderall IR, but it honestly doesn't feel like it works nearly the same as how I remembered in college. It's the generic form (the Amphetamine Salts), 15 mg, and it's an orange circle, manufactured by "Barr" company. The Adderall I sometimes took in college was 20 mg, pink (almost a bright pink), circular, and had a "+" on one side, dividing the pill into four quarters (I usually only took one half of a pill at a time, as that was all I needed to get the desired effects for a few hours of work). I don't know what exact brand that was though. This was also in 2008 and 2009, so it was fairly recent if that helps any. Would anybody know what brand that pink kind with the "+" design was? I've asked the pharmacist if anybody ever complains about generic's effectiveness vs brand or what, but of course she says nobody ever does, it's the same active ingredients, etc. And I obviously can't mention that I took someone else's Adderall prescription when I had yet to be diagnosed. So I feel boxed in here, when all I want is a clue to what brand or form of Adderall that kind of pill was, and then hopefully I can find it at a nearby drug store and be able to purchase it on my own with my next prescription. Thank you to anyone who reads this, and anyone who can offer any suggestions/advice/help.

Those would be CorePharma's IR. There's a lot of bitching on the Intertubes about the noticeable differences between Barr and CorePharma (mostly people preferring Barr, but my point is simply that you wouldn't be the first to feel they aren't quite the same). Walgreens apparently stocks only CorePharma, so if you've got one around you, problem solved. But you can always call a pharmacy ahead of time to ask which manufacturer they use (I've done it; nevermind if they seem surprised you're asking, no need to justify yourself to the tech who answers the phone). Edited to add: OK. Looked up drug images; there's more than one that might reasonably fit your description. If this is what you remember -- then it's Shire (the original brand), and I have no idea if they're even making it anymore. If this is what you remember -- that's indeed the CorePharma. Good luck. TurdFerguson
First, thanks to you guys both for replying so quickly. Studying for an exam or trying to pull an all-nighter, I'd hazard a guess that you were washing down the borrowed Adderall with black coffee? What are you taking the daily dose with? (Helpful hint from the patient information sheet: pH counts) Ah no, I don't drink coffee. I've never liked the taste and caffeine doesn't do it for me (Red Bulls and Monster type energy drinks usually give me an almost instant "crash" effect). When I take my current Adderall, I just drink it with water. Hmm, yeah, judging by the pictures, it looks like it was the CorePharma IR pills. It was a very bright pink. The Shire brand looks a little duller in color. I try not to read too much into the debates between brands before I've tried them myself, since I don't want to get any kind of preconceived notion about what might work for me and what won't work, if that makes any sense. I'd rather just test them myself, as like I said earlier, I'm in this to get this issue resolved for my own good. There's actually a Walgreens right up the street from me (with a pretty cute, young pharmacist ) , so when I get my next prescription, I'll try them out. I wasn't very fond of my Publix's pharmacy anyway; they seemed somewhat hostile towards me asking questions about the different brands and generic forms (which I understand a little, I can't be asking around with the intention to get the right kind to sell on the street). Thanks for the help though. It's not that the current Adderall from Barr doesn't work at all, it's just not to the level I expect compared to what I've experienced before (and for what I pay for it with my current crappy insurance), and it would make sense that my friends used CorePharma brand, as there was a Walgreen's right across the street from our apartment complex. TurdFerguson
I talked to my doctor and got my new prescription for the month, and she prescribed me 30 mg (taking 1/2 in the morning, 1/2 in the afternoon). Had the prescription filled at my local Walgreen's and received the pink Corepharma tablets instead of the Barr/Teva tablets. Took my first dosage of it this morning, and the second dosage a few hours later (an entire 30 mg tablet) and nothing. No reaction at all, good or bad. I didn't want to overstimulate myself or do anything hasty, so I didn't take any more. Since my last posting, I've read that many people feel that the Corepharma brand tablets are cheaply made and either give them really bad side effects (headaches, stomach pains, fatigue, etc.), or they don't do anything at all and might as well be simple sugar pills. But I know this is what I've taken before (bright pink color, "+" design across the back of the tablet), with great results. But for whatever reason, this isn't working for me now. Could it be that when I was taking the 20 mg dosage before, in college, that it was somehow different than how the 30 mg is made? I know that doesn't make any sense, as a 30 mg tablet from the same manufacturer would be the exact same as a 20 mg, just with slightly stronger ingredients. But I honestly can't think of what could be different. Prior to this, I've been on about a month and a half routine of Barr brand generic adderall (15 mg, 2 in the morning/afternoon, another 2 at night if needed for studying/work). So sometimes I was taking up to 45 or 60 mg within a 24 hour span. Has my tolerance maybe gone up, in that short of a time period? I'm truthfully skeptical of that possibility as well, but I really don't know. Or does my body need to "adjust" to the Corepharma tablets compared to being used to the Barr tablets? Any help or insight would be really appreciated. I'm actually taking the GRE exam in about 2 weeks, so I'd like to get this straightened out as soon as possible. I'm a complete loss at trying to understand how the exact same medicine could work for me as recently as a year ago, but when I take it now, it doesn't do anything at all. I really think I might be crazy here.

Guest Alexia Browne
Your first mistake was going to Walgreens. They and now CVS too, only carry the round pink, less effective 30 mg tabs. These are made with a "compressed sugar" base. So if you're hypoglyceimic , like I am, your blood sugar's going to crash - fast. Also, the pink ones are only rated B by the FDA. They suck. Walmart carries the oval orange 30 mg tabs that are rated AB by the FDA, and work better, lasting longer. You should also get the "Coast to Coast Rx Discount Card". A prescription for 60/30mgs should only cost you $22.60. Good Luck. 30 XR pills of same dose (30mg) had cost me $150+ in walgreens (or $124 at vons' pharmacy instead), but i hope lack of effectiveness is not the payoff with generic. thanks. Guest Generic = ripoff
Walgreens, yes was always there to be trusted. Did someone (China?) Buy them out or something. They are just terrible to deal with anymore. First cannot get through to local pharmacy where I pick up my meds. When calling it is sent to a "sweatshop" bank of phone answerers, most do not have English as their first language. Often, I just have to say thanks, goodbye, call back again to try and get a refill, hoping to be able to communicate with whomever answers (in Orlando area) for Florida. Been hating this for months, would change to CVS except they do not seem top notch either. Took my Rx , that my doctor had written , name brand only, for Adderal 10mg. They said, oh we only have a few of those, then you can't pick up the rest, once you accept these, because controlled drug. So I reluctantly agreed to their generic, that CorePharma , I see so many complain about. You can imagine, that a sleezy factory who has a shipment of amphetamine, pockets the active drug, for Themselves, it obviously does Not go into the pills I purchased. I tried to "get through" to the grumpy pharmacist, that this whole months worth is , worthless. He babbles that its approved by FDA, his pat answer, says cannot exchange........ too bad for me, thats just tough. What a Racket WALGREENS, you have become CRAP! Please anyone, What pharmacy would you recommend I start using? I really need help here. Convenience doesn't matter anymore, Walgreens is out for Walgreens only, still living off their once trusted name. Any generic adderall good quality? So frustrating. I actually think they pack caffeine into the pills, not the adderall ingredients. This whole Generic thing has got to be looked into...... Americans are being cheated. And also I depend on thyroid medicine, since no longer have functioning thyroid. I tried generic, and it was as if it was totally fake, I was getting sicker and sicker, people are actually being harmed, those who depend and trust these drugstores. Can any drug stores be TRUSTED anymore, CVS, Walmart, etc.

I have ADD and I've been prescribed Adderal XR (Generic from TEVA PHAR), Vyvanse XR, and Ritilan IR. Out of all 3 the generic Adderal is definitely the most noticeable and has a "normal" instead of "high" feeling. (Vyvanse) I get mine from Meijer Pharmacy (Mid-west Wal-Mart type of Deal) which they give me Orange Amphetamine Salt Mix Oval Capsules from "TEVA PHAR". I would recommend giving these a shot if you can, it even worked better than double the same amount of Vyvanse. (more of a high one, even though it's effective) For adults, I wouldn't recommend any MPH medication for ADD/ADHD treatment, APH is definitely the best starting point. Everyone reacts differently though, so if your APH's aren't working, give Ritilan or other MPH's a shot and see what happens.
Guest erikmasters
ok had to leave a comment ,I have had adhd all my life and taken it all,I am currently taking the 30mg orange sweet as candy tasting amphetam salt , i enjoy the sweet taste, lol, the only time ive had the so called headfaches is when i took to much in one day ..dang headache lasted 2 days, well my pharmacist gave me these pink ones same dose amount and i might as well of took a spoonfull of bullshit as they didnt wk i even thought wow these arent even the right meds, i went back to pharm. and they said they are the same im like there not sweet like my others and fail to wk at all, he said its exactly the same , let me tell you there not the orange ones always kick in the euforic feeling about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes and i can eat and function then sleep fine , were as the pink ones make me full of anxiety and negative thoughts like how id like to go to the pharm and have a few words withthe so called trained pharmacist.so in my opinion forget 60 dollar a month xr when the orange 30mg are just as good and you can break it up into 4 dosesif needed for only 18 dollars a month. maybe its me but why not just prescribe me pure cocaine instead of all these fillers and pink pills that make me want to flip my lid!! lol

30 XR pills of same dose (30mg) had cost me $150+ in walgreens (or $124 at vons' pharmacy instead), but i hope lack of effectiveness is not the payoff with generic. thanks. I was on 30mg xr as well at first but the cost was outrageous so I was put on 30mg ir, I did have them give me the generic and ended up paying ten dollars instead of 185...the extended release is the reason it is so expensive. I personally do not feel a difference between the two, but everyone is different and the name brand might be better for you, I know some people do better with the name brand and others that are like me and do not seem to feel any difference between the two. I would try the brand name, I am sure you will feel the difference, did you take the generic form of the extended release?? If you did that might be why the generic isn't working out for you, I was on the brand name of xr but not for very long, i couldn't afford it,lol, but if you were on it a while then i would say try the name brand of the adderall ir in name brand. Hope this helps.
Guest misty
Guest Lonestar1
Guest Chelsea
I just picked up my refill of amphetamine salts 20mg TAB BARR... They are orange and oval. I started with 15 mg (generic as well) and they were pretty good, just had to take 1 and a half... So when my doc preScribed me 20 I was thinking "well good, the prescription will last longer than the last one because I won't have to take as many". WRONG... I'm new to the adderol thing so ive spent hours reading and researching.... I thought I was crazy or just getting use to the adderol and possibly built up a tolerance fairly quickly. I see now that's not the case. The 20 mg I just finished were a brand TABCOR. I found it odd that the 20mg were 10 bucks cheaper than the 15mg I started with... And, I found myself needing 2 pills (40mg) to feel ok compared to taking 1 1/2 to 2 of the 15mg (22.5-30mg). Gee, maybe because the cheaper, the less quality and pureness. I'm catching on real quick... Now im worried because I just refilled my 2nd bottle of 20mg (the BARR ones) and they were 10 bucks cheaper than the last 20mg... I don't have insurance so the name brand would cost $240 for a bottle of 60 20mg. Theres no way I can afford that, and no pharmacies even carry it anyway!!! What the heck??? I'm so confused and frustrated to finally fork out this money to see a doctor w/out insurance and finally be on something that made me feel normal. Now I just feel teased and feel I'm getting crappier and crappier pills every month. Maybe I should try a different pharmacy? Ive been using Costco because my doc said they were the cheapest... Which is true, I did my research. Every other pharmacy like wallgreens, cvs, walmart, even SAMs club was charging anywhere from $65 to $85. I paid about $48 for the 15mg, then like $36 for the crappy pink round 20mg, now today I payed $28 for the BARR 20mg. What's going on??? Guess we'll see when I try the new ones tomorrow. Guest ML
Just ask your pharmacist POLITELY if they could order the Barr brand... same company that makes the brand name.. probably come from the same factory- If I had to bet. Just don't be a jerk about that and explain that you have noticed a difference and would like to have that brand. I would also probably probe a little and make sure you understood that they should be identical (and no generics do not differ from the brand by 10-20%- they would never be considered interchangeable if that was the case- 10% is way too much.. I very much doubt that tidbit). Regardless personally I like the barr brand much better...I don't know why and perhaps its in my head but nonetheless if you just ask kindly they should order them for you. If you ask nicely and arn't an ass about it and they still refuse.. then go to another pharmacy.
Guest ML
Regarding the pricing... go online and print out one of those free "prescription discount cards".... most chains accept them (begrudgingly as it cuts their margin profoundly). If you use of those the price comes back at almost half (or close to) what the full retail price is. Don't ever go into a pharmacy and say you will pay the full cash price- Instead have a discount card with all the information (BIN, PCN, GROUP, ID #s) and ask them to use that. chipmunk
I talked to my doctor about the crappy pink pills from Walgreens and he said that the company that makes the orange generics bought the Adderall formula (or something like that....details are fuzzy) so those generics are almost as expensive as the brand-name Adderalls. The pink generics, in contrast, are much less inexpensive, so pharmacies choose them over the orange generics so they can make more money even though everyone knows they suck. In addition, I am lactose intolerant and really did notice symptoms when I took the pink pills so now I get the brand-name Adderall. They also have lactose in them, according to the ingredient list, but somehow do not affect me the same way the pink pills did.
MaryMacAllister
Thanks!
MaryMacAllister
XR is better i think, it last throughout the day for me, and I sleep just fine. The IR or the tablets whatever you call them are terrible they wear off and then you feel like crap. I suggest the XR. And if you are getting mad like that while taking it, you probably need to change around your dosage or quit taking it all together. Its not supposed to have that effect. My sister took in recreationally and she acted like that.
ICZak
I have been on 30 mg adderall twice daily for years. I have taken nothing but the orange footballs from Bar, and they have always worked great. I was surprised when I filled my last prescription to see these odd flat round pills. I found one pic of them online and figured "hey, they will work out fine" and began using them. The next day I seemed to be catching a cold. Runny nose, fever, stuffy, lot of mucous, headache and couph. This got much worse over the next few days. I eventually felt like I was in respiratory arrest. My chest hurt so bad, no sleep, I thought I was going to die. They threw me into fits of mania my wife told me about that I don't remember, she says I was focused for 2 days on buying SNAKES!!! WTF!!! I feel I have been fucking poisoned. I looked up this company COREPHARMA, Based in New Jersey, Who my pharmacy told me uses a different name altogether on their bottle label and find out they have a laundry list of recalled meds. Basically they make trash, In my case dangerous trash. Adderall is an Amphetimine Salt Combo. Theirs simply says Amphetamine Adderall which it is not. It tastes bitter because it contains the wrong chemical make up. Needless to say, they will be hearing from my attorney and many others as well. My pharmacy just pulled their products after my call, My next move will be getting a hold of the FDA. I just want to make as many people aware of this as I can because I had never felt these feelings before that I felt from their bull shit product. And I would hate to have other innocent people go through the hell I have been in the last few days. Here is a link to a picture of their product imgres Please be safe and watch out for any strange feelings if you have this product. I threw mine out and got my usual Bar labs RX. I would suggest doing the same. Lets Shut These Bastards Down Now!!!
