zsepthenne
I have a subpoena for court this upcoming friday, in relation to the a** I was dating who beat me. I am starting to get very antsy and agiatated. Prior to this coming in the mail I have been fairly stable. I am scared that as the days wear on I'm going to get an itchy, mean hypomania that will last a bit afterwards. Is there anything temporary that I could use? I also can't be zonked for court, so this is a major concern for me. Any ideas? My pdoc is back in on tues... EDIT: for terrible spelling
GroovyGwen
See what your doc says - without knowing what you are already on, there are lezss-zonkafying benzo options you could try. Maybe your doc could even give you samples so that you didn't have to pay $ for a small supply. Until then - deep breathing does wonders for me when I remember to do it. If you find yourself getting anxious, close your eyes and take deep, even breaths. It helps me if I count to 10 on each inhale and exhale, or repeat some kind of affirmation if that's your bag. It's a good way to deal until the xanax kicks in. Also, Tension Tamer Tea from Celestial Seasonings is surprisingly effective. From the website: Tension Tamer is a soothing combination of ginger, chamomile and eleuthero
zenbean
i had a friend tell me that steeping a bag of tension tamer and a bag of sleepytime together in the same cup made a really calming brew. i didn't notice any difference from either one by itself, but maybe it's worth a try? oh...bach rescue remedy is very calming too...i like the drops better than the spray. you can get it at a health food store, or the health food section of your grocery store. zsepthenne
Heavens I can't even spell anymore! I am on 75mg Lamactil (this is when the spelling and explaining things backwards started), 2mg of Xanax Prn, Ambien @ bedtime, 25 mgs of seroquel. When I am really stressed my xanax does nothing for me. I may as well be eating jolly ranchers. I can't drink tea before leaving the house or going to bed unless I want to do the bathroom shuffle a few or more times My doc is a county pdoc and isn't really very hip or up on anything new so I often have to investigate my own medication options. I had to fight for Lamactil, and even then my primary care doc put me on it. My pdoc is close to retiring I believe. I am already having nightmares and am desperate.... This went down as a felony strike, assualt with a deadly weapon. Might zyprexa be an option?
IHeartAAPs
I would suggest a low dose of an AAP such as Zyprexa or Seroquel. Both work well for quelling anxiety without leaving you completely zonked.
GroovyGwen
This isn't for short-term, but in the long run, you might want to see about upping the Lamictal. 75mg isn't that much. Although if it is making you crazy that would be a bad thing. If I were to be a bad girl and suggest taking your meds differently than prescribed, I would say increase the seroquel. You're on a low dose now. Maybe call your doc and say "Hi - I'm freaking out. I've heard that I'm on a low dose of Seroquel. Might I be able to increase it?" Although there is this whole thing w/ Seroquel being more sedating at lower doses, but other people know more about that. If you want to go the herbal route, there are tinctures or supplements of things that seem like they would be as good or better than just the tea. The crazystore has some. See this thread for more info. Sounds like you need some serious therapy in addition to meds. You are in a horriffic situation and are justifiably freaking. Call your doc. Maybe every doc. My feeling is that it is just going to get worse as the date gets closer, do something now.
zsepthenne
I had raised my lamactil to 100mg and was going off a low dose of Lithium, then I started having all this weird pressure feeling in my head and other strange symptoms. So I put it back down for awhile, I'd raise it now but I don't want to risk feeling goofy. I seem to be caught in a med catch 22. I am in therapy but haven't seen her in a month or two as my car died and keeps dying. Darn thing! I think my best bet is to ask for a temp seroquel raise, and maybe a few days of valium. I had excellent results with using valium for a week or so to quit smoking. I'm on a scaled down med regimen right now. But I know that with my March hypomania I'll be on more stuff. What can you do? GroovyGwen
But I know that with my March hypomania I'll be on more stuff. What can you do? You can speak with your doc about preventing the March hypomania. Loading yourself up to cushion the blow. I wouldn't be a responsible poster if I didn't tell you not to mess with your own dosages. You need to run everything by your doc, ideally letting him/her make the decisions. At the very least making the decisions together. IMHO, there is no point of being on the lamictal if it isn't in a therapeutic range and if you are feeling negative side effects. There are plenty of meds in the psychopharmacological sea, look into others.
Steve@3AM
I'm kind of in SG's camp. (but beware her claws when she's on 'catnip'! ) I'm a bit concerned about adding anything to the mix. Too many unknowns. Too much at stake in your court appearance. Would maybe just a temp push of the Xanax help? Sort of PRN? Maybe ask doc about that?
