Progressive House
I went to the pdoc recently to change up my meds. I'm now on prozac 80 mg/day, seroquel 600 mg/day and lunesta for sleep (when even the seroquel doesn't cut it!). My girlfriend didn't like my personality when I was toying around with the GABA meds (neurontin, gabitril, lyrica). These 3 meds didn't necessarily curb my anxiety However, they are definitely mood altering. I don't know why lyrica is the only med out of those 3 that is scheduled by the FDA. I played around with doses and combinations of all three and one conclusion I made was that I was a hazard on the road and it made me really feel sorta "stoned" with poor vision (especially peripheral vision). At any rate, I stopped taking them because I am a substance abuser and I was really just taking them to get outta my own mind (despite whether they curbed my anxiety or not). The prozac has been working good for me. It's the only SSRI I've tried so far that doesn't give me bad side effects. I'm really hoping the prozac along with 600 mg of seroquel blunts my anxiety and OCD. These are probably the 2 best meds for me to try don't you think? I really wish I could take something PRN but my substance abuse issues simply don't mesh well with benzo's.

Yes, they do feel different. They are not nearly as good as benzo's for anxiety. I love benzo's. I thought those GABA meds were just "okay". In all actuality, they had really no clinical importance to me. You can get really fucked up off of them so watch your dosages. They have a very long time of onset to them as well. Sometimes like 3 hours. Therefore, they don't make very good PRN meds. My GABA receptors seem to play tricks on me as well. Like sometimes they respond and sometimes they don't. It's weird. Test them out. Beware their main side effect though... (Being dumb as a rock )
