Can geodon and risperdal be taken together?

Recommended Posts

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction: Risperdal (risperidone) and Geodon (ziprasidone)

CONTRAINDICATED: Ziprasidone can cause dose-related prolongation of the QT interval. Theoretically, coadministration with other agents that can prolong the QT interval may result in elevated risk of ventricular arrhythmias, including ventricular tachycardia and torsade de pointes, because of additive arrhythmogenic potential related to their effects on cardiac conduction. MANAGEMENT: The concurrent use of ziprasidone with other medications that can prolong the QT interval is considered contraindicated.

Moderate Drug-Food Interaction: Risperdal (risperidone)

GENERALLY AVOID: Risperidone oral solution is not compatible with either tea or cola. MANAGEMENT: Risperidone oral solution should not be mixed with tea or cola. It may be taken with water, coffee, orange juice, or low-fat milk.
