greencativ
I've gained about 40lbs in a year from Depakote...and I'm a fairly short gal. Let me tell you, this really bites. Does anyone have any suggestions for other alternatives besides the ones already said? I heard lithium is really bad for the kidneys...and I'd rather be a bit chunky now than go on dialysis in the future. Unfortunately, the weight gain has done a number on my self-esteem. So, I'm kinda in the middle of a rock and a hard place here. Any suggestions would be great!

What are you trying to fix with it, what have you already tried, and what has already been suggested?

I've been diabetic for 24 years, if anyone had to worry about kidneys, it's me. I did fine on lith for wo years, fine on topamax (another kidney-buster) for more than that. If kidneys are all that's bugging you take the lithium.
rowen
My grandmother has been taking lithium on and off since the late sixties. She's still alive and kicking. Has never been on dialysis. Don't let the rare side effects scare you.
