Er, well, if lamictal was activating, maybe this will be good for you. It made me sleep a lot. I'm an artist, and it not only caused shaking hands, it squashed my creativity, so for me, it wasn't good. But it may be the wonder drug for you, and I hope it works.

i <3 my depakote ER. it gets rid of my mood swings, and doesn't over sedate me. they gave me regular depakote recently (by accident) and i was a mess. i take it at night, and it helps me sleep too. there is some start up spaciness. but i either got used to it, or it went away. good luck!

I've been on Depakote ER for just about a month (along with Lexapro, Wellbutrin, and Ambien) and I've been getting progressively better. I was switched to it from Lamictal too because it gave me a rash.

i am on the regular depakote and it is working awesome... i used to be on lamictal, and it didn't help at all. i was bumping into stuff all the time, spacy, and my moods fluctuated more than gas prices.

I didn't think lithium was working anymore so we switched to Depakote ER (the cheaper version, still a fortune without insurance) and I have done nothing but EAT and SLEEP. I'm gaining weight, I thought it was PMS but now I am pretty sure it isn't. And I'm tired constantly. I woke up this morning for work, took a shower, did my hair, went to get dressed and said fuck it, texted my boss some weak excuse about why I had to come in late, then passed out for another hour and a half. I am looking up books on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy because I wonder how much of my actions are due to me being a giant brat and a weakling who turns to drugs and dudes to escape reality.

I've been on a ton of combinations over the past 12 years, more over the past three years than ever, and the more I try the more I think I have a problem straight up dealing with life.

I know that lithium was my magic drug. Within days it changed me in a way I could never deny. I prefer to stick with more natural things and lithium is 'of the earth' which sounds pretty gay but oh well.

Exercise is a huge part of emotional health and on so many of these drugs it's an impossibility to drag oneself to the gym. I'm there now and I'm hating life.

Just an update...I have now been on Depakote ER for just a little over 3 months. I gained about 5 pounds in the beginning and then no more weight gain. I have energy, feel good, feel level, and sleep so much better. I am not sure if it is the med or my med cocktail, but thank goodness!

I wish you all the same luck in finding something that really helps.
