spaceman
I do lawn care tomake ends meet and a woman who's grass I've been cutting for over a year for $50.00 gave me a check for $40.00 the last time I cut her grass. When I questioned this she denied that she had ever paid me $50.00 and just shut the door on me. I know the price she has been paying me for over a year and I can't understand any other reason for her behavior other than that she just decided to rip me off for $10.00. This woman lives in a $500,000 home and surely doesn't need the money more than me. She has always been somewhat of a demanding bitch and I just didn't want to get into a pissing contest with her about $10.00. I did leave her a note this weekend and she has not responded and I don't think she will. I will leave her one last note and tell her that I may not be rich but at least I have my integrity which is priceless. What is wrong with people these days? Doesn't anyone care about right and wrong anymore?
withing
If she's been paying you with a check all of this time, you can request the canceled checks from you bank to prove your point. She may be confused (some kind of MI, or elderly, or just stressed, or something!) and actually believe she has always paid you $40 and not $50. Maybe she accidentally wrote the check for $40 and didn't want to admit her mistake - she's anal that way. I dunno, but I'm strange and like to give people the benefit of the doubt The question is, do you still want to mow her lawn, or do you want your $10? If you still want to mow her lawn, it's better to work it out peacefully - I think. A copy of the canceled checks, rather than a note that calls her integrity in question, would be less confrontational. Or, if you have a bank statement showing that you deposited her $50 checks in the past, you could show that to her and state that perhaps she's mistaken? and not out to "cheat you of $10". I find that once the accusations start flying, it's harder to solve these things in a peaceable manner. That's just my $.02 worth.
olga
I agree with Patheral. I'll tell ya, if the lady is that much of a pain, maybe you should find new customers. Who needs the grief? olga
spaceman
I agree babout the finding new customers point. She is not elderly or an mi and is a successful career woman. My issue is that she made it seem as if I was trying to cheat her. For my own edification I left the note and if she does not respond(which she hasn't) then thats the end of it. I had mulled it over for a week and felt I had to at least get ity off my chest and place the ball in her court. Thanx for the input. scatty
If your doing this lawn care "under the table" (not reporting it to the IRS) just forget about the ten bucks. Just a thought.
spaceman
Iam going to get new customers and forget about the $10.00. The point was I still just can't believe that she did that and it demonstrates the decline of values in our society and that people basically suck!!!! I just wanted to vent a little about the situation. I feel better already. Thanx, Brian
