Can't click on profile tabs.

Recommended Posts

Can't click on profile tabs in user profiles. The pointer turns into a text curser when I run it over blogs/topics, etc. This has been happening to me in gmail too. I get into an email but then can't get back out into the inbox via the links.

Any ideas?

I have that problem with Konqueror, which is a cousin of Safari. I reported the bug to the invision people and they responded that they can't support browsers with such small market share. Same problem with Opera.

Oddly enough, I've never had it not work (aside from when there's an update to the board and an old version of the page is cached, but that resolves itself quickly), despite them not "supporting" it officially. I get the impression that Opera is getting ignored even more lately than it used to be, since it's not even one of the top three at this point. Both it and Safari have single digit market shares, but at least Safari is a bit over 5% now. Opera's not even half that now, according to most places (although it seems to work fine with the vast majority of stuff, too). I also get the impression that unless you're doing something extraordinarily complicated, it's pretty easy to get stuff to work in every major browser but IE these days, so aside from occasional glitches, most things should be (and in my experience are) fine in most browsers.

Oh, and the Mac version of Firefox sucks. It sounds like that may finally be fixed when Firefox 3 comes out, though. It only took how many years to make a native version of it instead of a crappy Windows port?

It really bothers me that the Mac version of Firefox is so terrible =( I didn't know Firefox3 was coming out. Hopefully it'll be much better! Though I don't have a Mac anymore, my boyfriend does. And again, when I did have a Mac, there were a lot of basic things that I couldn't do with Gmail using Safari as the browser. It was weird because when I downloaded Firefox, I could do all of those things. I wonder why Safari wouldn't let me? It seems like it lets other people?

It's in beta now, so they're making progress on it. Should be done later this year at some point, I think.

Some of the older versions (depending on how long ago you were using it) were a little flaky with stuff like that for a little while, especially right after things like Gmail would get updated to a new version, but it's been pretty good with stuff like that for a while now. The old 1.x versions of Safari were kind of slow and broke with stuff like that more often than they should've, but 2 was a big improvement, and I haven't really had any significant issues (of that kind) with it since 3 came out last year.
