ChemistryExperiment
Anyone hear of any new APs in the works? Any new studies? I'm getting desperate. I just want something to kill the voices that aren't caused by the DDNOS, and the visuals... mainly the dead mutilated bodies.... and the constant people following me. Oh, and Allergic to Abilify and Seroquel. Tried Geodon, Zyprexa, Haldol, Navane. Currently on Risperdal. That seems to work the best. Geodon worked a little better than risperdal for a while, but then it lowered greatly in efficacy. Even on up to 280mg per day. I've never tried clozaril. Its never been offered to me. Rabbit37
Why are you waiting for it to be offered to you? Can't you simply ask, and see if it works? I would think the pdoc would know if there's any new potential drugs out there. They, along with every other doc, are inundated with samples, brochures and information from the pharms. I know, because my cousin's a rep. (I have some pretty cool coffee mugs). I would think they'd hear about new meds upcoming, if they're seriously in the works. Otherwise, just something "being studied" could be years away from actual production, and that does you no good.
Silver
Clozaril is often not offered because the patient has to be enrolled in a registry and get regular blood draws in order to receive the medication. Providers have to be registered with the company in order to prescribe Clozaril. The risk of leukopenia is unacceptably high for using Clozaril 'off-label' for most prescribers.
