Now what?

Ok, I saw an orthopaedic doctor yesterday about my spinal and knee pain. After doing some X-rays and looking at my old X-rays and MRIs He basically said that while I have diagnoses of Scoliosis, Arthritis and other stuff in my spine and a Patellar Tilt in both my knees, there was nothing to worry about and sent me on my merry way.

He prescribed physical therapy. This will be my third time. In the past, PT has done jack shit. I'm not looking for surgery or heavy narcotics. I just want to manage this pain and there is a lot of it. I often walk with a cane. In order to keep the pain relatively low I sit and watch a lot of tv. I wish I could do more.

There is a lot of pain here and thos doc didn't seem to care.

Can you take nsaids? Why not give physical therapy one more try if that's what the doc recommends? I'd try to go to a different one though than the first. Ask if they can give you exercises at home to do. Heat wraps are good. I'm sorry you're still in pain. I hope you get some relief soon.

I would try the PT one more time if you can. Have you tried chiropractors? What about a pain specialist? My chiro does pt and adjustments together. Ask about a TENS unit, mine saved me, the pain relief was great. I've had 2 back surgeries and the chiro/pt/TENS saved me from having another surgery.

Just my $.02 worth

Thanks for your replies.

My insurance doesn't cover chiropractors and I can't afford one. I've also tried many nsaids with no results. I will look into a pain specialist.

Guess I'll go to pt. I'm dreading it but I'll give it another try.
