Seroquel vs Klonopin

Recommended Posts

Seroquel is more sedating. It's the only thing that ever worked well reliably to knock me out. Unfortunately I gained a ton on it. I'm about to ask for Thorazine because the pdoc changes the subject when I ask for horse tranquilizer grade hypnotics.

I would take seroquel. In small doses, say from 25mg to 100mg, you most likely won't have to worry about weight gain. I'm taking 200mg, and I haven't put on any weight. It just works great for sleep, better than klonopin, in my opinion, and it isn't addictive, and you don't build a tolerance in the same way as you do with klonopin. Plus, because you have bipolar disorder you're more at risk of depression with long term use of klonopin. Whereas seroquel has been found to help with depression.

Either way, good luck!
