gretl
Hmmm. Well ... subtracting the standard grapefruit juice warnings (just avoid it), you're left with the additive action ones, the seizure control one, and the birth control one. The synergistic central nervous system action is probably something your pdoc is TRYING to achieve by combining those meds (but ya never know if it might cause trouble, so keep an eye on it, like you're doing). The seizure one, as I read it, should only be an issue if you're taking the meds for epilepsy (the drowsiness part of that one is always something to watch out for if you take the Klonopin during the day). Birth control ... does your pdoc know you're on the pill? He/she should have already accounted for that factor in your dosing instructions. If not, mention it at some point, and in the meantime just pay attention to whether or not the Klonopin seems to be sticking around longer than is comfortable. Fiona
Well, yes, you'll have to give up grapefruit on these meds (sigh). As for the others, your pdoc may be trying to get things to work together. If you have wierd things after taking the clonazepam, than you do need to be careful about where and when you take it -- and it's probably worth talking to your pdoc about. If you need to be able to take it and still function with the rest of the world, then you definately want to bring it up to your doctor. Echo
Thanks for posting those warning signs for me Kassianne. I will definitely be checking it out. Fiona - I like grapefruit! I also like carbonated drinks and fruit juice blends that contain grapefruit like wink and fresca. Gosh, I'm realy going to have to watch myself. From your *sigh* I'm assuming you also enjoy grapefruit? About the clonazepam. I think I will just be careful when I take it. I asked pdoc about using the ativan if I absolutely NEED too out in public or while driving as well as the klonopin when I'm at home, etc. but he said not to mix the two. He said that would be bad. I still have a number of ativan's left and am tempted but I know I really shouldn't. It's just that the ativan had only a tiny effect on the anxiety. Out of 10, maybe and 2. The klonopin is at least a 9, if not more like an 11. I might also try halving one of my .5mg tabs. I've notice some people talking about how they take .25 prn. Maybe that would be a more suitable dosage for when I am driving or in public?

Since I no longer eat it, I keep grapefruit scented things around -- a candle on my desk, shower gel, things like that. And I subsitute tangerine flavored things when I can get them (since orange is nothing like grapefruit!). I might also try halving one of my .5mg tabs. It's terrific that it takes care of your anxiety! Fiona
