You've gone from where to where now?

You're in Beirut right now?

Yup, moved from Amman (in what is commonly referred to as the Hashemite Kingdom of Boredom, erm, I mean, Jordan) to Civil War central.

Sad thing is? It still beats living in Jordan hands down.

Things seemed to have quieted and we're under martial law, which at the moment is actually a good thing....

cheers

Wow, may I ask what made you move there?

Do you have a blog? If so, I'd love to read it if it was alright with you.

How long have you lived there for?

Heh, Lebanon (or at least its cities?) is probably still the nicest Arab country to live in if you happen to be a woman...

True amber.....its a beautiful place and very Euro cosmopolitan with a layer of Arab hospitality ....the Paris of the Middle East is not just a cliche ..........cept of course when folks break out into civil wars now and then. Sigh.

Just moved here, but have visited often in the past, so its not a shock of total newness.....

Tinnaes, best place in the region if you're a journalist. When they say press freedom, they tend to mean it. For blog entries check here:

It sounds wonderful. I definitely wouldn't mind visiting. :)

And I really, really hope that the civil war subsides quickly...

Good times all around. Cute blog. Interesting how republicans et al support freedom for Lebanon from Syria and Hezbollah. Yet democrats (Obama, anyone?) will kissy-kissy terrorists who want to kill us. (meaning, those of us who won't submit to sharia law)

Flame on? You betcha! I got my facts straight, so if you wanna party, right on, if not, leave the insults at home you left wing apologist.

Pffft........left, right? I'm a friggen anarchist. If I thought Bush was doing a good job, I elect him for a third term if that were possible. I don't see much from Dem hopefuls either, really. Tho, perhaps it was unfair to generalize 'republicans' as one homogenous block......

I guess the question about a flame war really is.....should it be its own thread? Everyone's caught up in the Dem race and so forth it would probably run on for pages.

Your self description however seems to prove the adage that "Paranoia is simply knowing all the facts." I'm so glad someone out there knows everything.....I can sleep easier knowing all the 'terrorists' will be wiped out. ;)

And doesn't a person calling someone a left wing apologist make them a right wing apologist? The blog is open to comments by the way......and I don't believe in censorship if you want to state your views...thats what comments are for.

anyways there are alot more politicians here to watch out for so the US govt remains a third party in this part of the world....

cheers

PS Hizbullah has been a party in the government for ages now, and was considered by the Lebanese government as their 'army' in the South of the country. Fact.

And Lebanon doesn't want Syria or Iran, or the US ..... to control their politics. Whether or not DC supports disbandiing Hizbullah, or supporting the Siniora government with arms and strategic aid, they too interfere in a purely Lebanese issue. Something most in Lebanon deplore.FACT

The last conflict between the military and the Wahabi sect of Jund as Sham etc? NO one including Hizbullah wants them. The terrorists you speak of are comprised by a good 90 percent of the twisted fundie viewpoings of Saudi based Salafi Wahhabism....From 9/11 to the last Nahr al Barid conflict? Look for Salafis and Wahabis ( who don't even agree with real Sunnis) behind the bombings and waste of life and limb. FACt

Syria, Iran, US? Saudi Arabia? Get the fuck out. You've all contributed enough to every conflict in Lebanon since at least 1970.

peace

Hey Foster,

Welcome!

Did your website just take a photo of me? I hope not. Surely you would not do that to people....If you did, I would Highly dislike that. Did you just take a photo of me?

I want you to know that this is not me really.

Cuz... I have no make up on, my long hair is messed & tangled, I haven't shaved my underarms for a week and I truly cannot remember the last time I shaved my legs but it has been a while since the hairs are close to an inch long.

I've worn this same outfit for 3 days because I haven't had clean clothes in over a week. Including underwear.

So, the picture you took isn't me!

I don't know WHO that person is. (strike through courtesy of the Website Manner Video-or something like that)

Anyway, Did the website take a photo?

Anyone know the rules on this political thread?

I hope it will be interesting and within the rules. It is time I learned a few things!

Wary,

Sunshine Outside

Nice Blog... you write well... and have some interesting viewpoints. I'll be watching for updates. I hope the civil unrest does not cut off your med supply...

As to the derailing that's happening with the Democrat VS Republicans "discussion"

I know where this thread will go if you keep on like this. Seen it a million times.

really....

This is an interesting topic. It would be a shame to lose it to pointless political bickering.

US politics may be interesting in some ways but....

People who just scream hate at each other over it aren't... they're boring, to put it politely.

No I don't CARE who "started it"

And its not as if your arguments are exactly gonna change anyones ideas now are they... I mean really?

I've had quite enough of this Bush VS Everyone crap on other boards.

Start your own thread please.

(and PLEASE feel free to scream at me for saying that... its highly unlikely I'm going to care enough to reply)

-----------------------------------------------------------------

ah yeah usual waste of time... this threads gonna go to the basement cat.

Allowing the U.S. to help would be nice--if the U.S. didn't have a history of setting up dictators (or building Panama Canals) in countries that allow themselves to be "helped"... :)

Shadow Cat, I aint screaming about a new thread......its a good idea.....and the war came close to cutting off meds for a day or two. Pharmacist is like "One box of xanax or two" heh. It wouldn't be a forum for the insane if no one derailed, eh? Especially those ADD folks get a going (j/k.....my meds make me more attention challenged everyday and I'm starting to like it in a sick way. Not to mention the lamictal space out moments where your vocab disappears on seldom used words like 'cigarettes" , "Book"or 'cheese" ........sigh...

Things alright here, meds procured, calm restored for the moment.

Folks are free to comment, and as I said, your comments arent edited unless its spam for viagra....

Atemesia, good point.....sounds like you've actually traveled outside the US and watch other news stations than FOX..... ;)

peace y'all

Carry on...

Amused,
