mel1
Is there a med or med combo that can have a side effect of jaw pain. The right sideof my jaw hurts when I close it or chew. I know I don't have any cavities-visited the dentist recently. mel
Kablume
Sometimes if you start a new drug, you clench your teeth w/o knowing. Paxil did that to me. But I grind my teeth at night and sometimes I have jaw pain.
Fiona
It sounds like you're probably clenching or grinding your teeth, especially in your sleep. Quite a number of very useful meds do this. And if you do it enough, or hard enough, it can cause quite a bit of jaw pain. The best solution to this is to buy a cheap mouthguard -- you can buy them for clenching/grinding and then mold them at home yourself -- and wear it at night. It will not stop the clenching/grinding, but it will protect your teeth and the cushioning will alleviate much of the pain you have now. Fiona (been there, done that) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with the other posts, you're probably grinding your teeth. I had it BAD on wellbutrin. I got this sports mouthpice at walmart for cheap, you boil it in water for a bit and then bite down on it while it's still soft, it kinda molds to your teeth. It worked really well and the pain went away in a day or so.

Ruby
I agree with the night guard. If you have good insurance, have your dentist make one for you. Otherwise use the cheap one. Save your teeth and your jaw. I have TMJ from grinding my teeth. I even do it in the daytime and have to remind myself to stop. I think the meds exacerbate it. My jaw pops loud everytime I yawn or open my mouth wide. Get the night guard!!

I didn't notice how bad it was until I kept banging my fork against my teeth! A mouth guard (which I wore during the day when I could) and lots of food through straws eventually fixed the problem.
