Angeljasmine
I started taking Wellbutrin SR over a week ago, 150mg in the morning. On day 5 and 6 took the second dose in the afternoon as prescribed but was too strong so cut back to once a day. Good experiences so far: - increased energy. So much so that I rearranged the furnture one afternoon by myself, this would have been unthinkable before starting WB. - fewer crying spells (no longer daily) - haven't hurt myself anymore (used to bite my arms and punch bruises all over my legs). - not feeling sorry for myself for having had such a crap childhood (I was emotionally abused by my mother) I now feel more like I'm angry about it rather than helpless and sad. Starting psychotherapy soon for a year to sort it out. - don't need as much sleep as I used to, can stay awake and alert in the evenings. - did things I'd been putting off for ages. - episodes of being very talkative. - able to smile and laugh again - actually have fleeting moments of enjoyment and happiness from simple things like reading a book. However have had some side effects: - very dry mouth - always thirsty - increased awareness of heartbeat while at rest - takes longer to fall asleep The following I had while taking the double (recommended) dose of Wellbutrin SR. Have since cut back to the single dose to avoid these symptoms. - markedly increased anxiety - very excitable - forgetful - easily startled by sudden sounds such as a cellphone going off - Mind going blank at how to do a simple thing (taking petrol hose out of pump to fill car) - affected driving quite badly, especially at night. - Had a bad panic attack driving home long distance on a dark rainy night. Knew the double dose of WB was the cause and was scared that I'd crash as I didn't feel I had full control of the car, escpecially as I was startled by car headlights going the other way and not being able to see the road properly. - a bit paranoid like thought drivers were signalling with their headlights to get me to speed up but they were just going over a bump in the road. - Thought someone going the other way while I swerved for some object on the road was turning around to come after me to tell me off. - felt as one would feel if they were "stoned" If you have read to the end well done. Wonder about other people's good and bad experiences on WB.
Cold
I've been on/off WB for 5 years. (Sometimes I have to stop when it "poops out") But it was the 1st med I was on, and it saved my life. I forget shit REALLY easy now. But in a way, it's good, I forget the trivail things that kept my GAD going. I get the talking thing, too. Hope the yucky part go's away soon for ya! Positive - Sex drive is back. Sex is reallllly good again. - I'm not falling asleep at 4 p.m. Negative - Sweating like a pig. - Constipated. PixiePants
I didn't have a good Wellbutrin experience at all!!! I was only on it for 2 weeks and only took the second dose for 2 days. I found it did the exact opposite of everything it was supposed to. I felt more depressed, and angry angry angry!!! Irritable and hostile! Not really any increased energy to speak of and now that I haven't taken it for 3 days, I CANNOT STOP YAWNING!! The only good thing about it for me was that it helped me to quit smoking (day 5). CyndyA
For the most part, my experience with Wellbutrin has been very good. The bad side effects wore off after about 6 weeks for me. Also, my doctor gave me xanax to help with the agitation that Wellbutrin can cause. That seemed to help a lot.
Greenyflower
Wellbutrin is a wonder drug for me in all the ways you describe. I'm glad it's helping you, too. Drink more water (it's soooo good for you). The thirstiness tends to diminish over time but will always be there a little bit. Falling to sleep should improve as your body adjusts to the med. But if it really starts to bug you, talk to your doc about it. Maybe short term use of a benzo or sleeping med will get you over the hump. sun_zoom_spark
I developed a keen taste for tequila when I was taking it. A fifth every three days to be exact. Is that good or bad?
Guest PinkToo2grrl
- very dry mouth - always thirsty - takes longer to fall asleep - forgetful - easily startled by sudden sounds such as a cellphone going off - Mind going blank at how to do a simple thing - felt as one would feel if they were "stoned" I unfortunately had ALL of these side effects, with no positive benefit at all. I felt STUPID all the time, and this was only at 150mg once in the am. I hated starting to do something and then having NO idea what I started doing. I'm tapering off it now. It interfered with my sleep so badly i had to start taking seroquel, which made me gain 10 pounds in 2 weeks ... just a mess. Most of the side effects had lessened about 90% by a month at 150mg, so maybe these will taper off for you as well. I found it took a GOOD TWO WEEKS for the worst of the side effects to calm down and subside. I hope it works out well for you. It obviously was hitting the wrong neurotransmitters for my brain. good luck.
CyndyA
You know, it's funny, I experienced many side effects at 150 mg. but they seemed to decrease as I went up to 300. For awhile now I'd been feeling pretty good. I was almost out of my prescription, so for the last few days I've been trying to taper back down to 150 and then to eventually see if I could do okay without the medicine at all. Well, all those side effects are coming back big time, especially the agitation on 150 mg. I'm mad at everything and everybody, feeling very negative and mean. On 300 mg. I was quite mellow. Is it possible that for some people the lower dose causes more problems than a higher dose?

Dweii
Wellbutrin seems like a such good med for me in theory. I wish I could be on it, especially after reading people's positive experiences. But I can't. Made me manic as hell.
fruitcake
Hi I am new and I hope I am doing this right. Somebody said something about pooping out on wellbutrin and going on and off it. I was on it in the spring for about three weeks and it was great but then it suddenly pooped out on me and I found myself worse than when I started: totally fatigued, debilitated and depressed. I just started it again a week ago at 50 mgs. SR up to 100 two days ago and I feel great again. I am petrified it's going to quit on me again in three weeks. Does any have any idea what is the likelihood of that happening again? How common is it? Maybe the good effects are side effects and go away? I have tried many SSRIs and none have worked on me -- all made me more tired and depressed. Thanks you any help. Fruitcake

Stick with it. It should come back only milder and with fewer side effects a few weeks later.

Angeljasmine
I wanted to revive this topic that I started almost 2 yrs ago when I first started on WB (been off it a long time, now back on it). I'm having the start up symptoms again, being clueless, brainless, forgetful etc. I can't be the only one whose brain turns to jelly on WB.
