LunaRufina
So... I stopped the Cymbalta completely and it hasn't been too bad. Sort of. I have these kind of "surges" of mild dizziness. It's really hard to describe. They last seconds long. Usually. But they've been coming more frequently rather than less, though it's possible that is happening because I'm still not totally in the "withdrawal" phase yet? And tonight it happened over and over and over for about a minute, to the point where I was walking in a sort of trance and walked into a stack of baskets. Just, out of it. Other people experienced this? Yesnomaybe? I'm just wondering if I should be concerned or not. I mean they are mild but if they are long I'm slightly disoriented while it's happening. And I know dizziness is almost to be expected but this isn't exactly what it felt like when I missed effexor for a while.
Velvet Elvis
Like your head is full of Styrofoam shipping peanuts and someone is squishing them? Get used to them. You might want to split your remaining capsules and taper off.
olga
Luna, I had some mild dizziness and a weird feeling in my head when I went off Cymbalta, but I went to 30 mg for a week and then every other day, etc etc. It was a pretty gradual taper. I'd go easy on the mountain climbing for the next few weeks. olga
LunaRufina
Yeah, I did taper. I don't get why it's getting worse. Does it get worse before it gets better?
Velvet Elvis
How long since the last dose? It was only bad for me for a few days but I tapered onto a SSRI.
lysergia
i've never experienced anything in my life like effexor withdrawal, and if it's cousin bears any resemblance, then yes yes. i felt more weirdness coming off that drug that even the weirdness from the recreational ones back in the day. i'd even take benzo withdrawal over that. my thoughts are with you, ugh
mel1
Luna, it took me 2 months to w/d from cybalta and I only took it for 2 months. Of course, my body has a hard time w/d from meds. I adjust to them easy. I think I am what is called a "fast metabolizer". But I experienced what you are describing. Brain Zaps. Ugh! Awful. This was how I withdrew somewhat comfortably: went from 60 to 30. Not too bad. Tried to go from 30 to nothing. bad. Went to my reg doc, who prescribed it to me. He gave me a bottle of 20 mg. I went from 30 to 20 after 2 wks. Then 20 every other day. Then every few days. Then, I think I was done. It was not an easy pill for me to get off of. I would never take it or effexor again. Of course the reason I got off it was 1.) It stopped working. 2.) It made me go into some sort of very bad mania that landed me in the ER. meh! Take it slow. I hope you will feel better soon. I know how hard of a time you've had lately. Take care of yourself. Melissa
