Hi people,

I recently increased my Seroquel from 25 to 50 mg per night. I know, it's a minuscule dose comparatively. But I'm a small person and not used to taking pharmaceuticals. My Pdoc gave me the usual advice of stretching, exercising, taking it earlier in the evening (I take it at 9 pm), which I follow, but I hate being in this fog. I feel like I'm dreaming.

When I first started taking Seroquel, it took me about 10 days to feel "normal." Is that what I can expect when increasing it? Today is day 3. Blech, and thanks for any info.

I went from 50 to 100 at night for insomnia. Initially, I was very groggy, but I did adjust. I do sleep a long time. Not unusual to sleep from 10 pm to 10 am. I get up at 6:30 with the kids and often have to "sleep off" the rest of the night. I don't do caffeine so I am sometimes groggy, but getting moving and either exercising or doing something other than sitting on my ass usually does the trick. FWIW.

Dang, my pdoc said that I should try to get exactly 8 hours of sleep a night. But maybe I'll try sleeping more to see if that helps.

I was so out of it today that I was wandering around the DMV like I was wacked on drugs. Which I guess I am. At least I'm not riddled with anxiety, I guess.

Based on three months of mood and sleep charting, there's this pattern: if I get exactly 8 hours of sleep, no more and no less, I do pretty good, with lower anxiety and virtually no depression. But when I sleep more, I get more anxious. According to my doc, my brain gets revved up and doesn't slow down in its final cycle if it's more than 8 hours, and then I wake up with my mind racing, which is true.

Also, yes, Seroquel is sedating, but the higher the dosage, the less sedating it is. Which is completely weird. When I was on 6mg (really super tiny dose), I couldn't tie my shoes. But 25mg and I was up and at 'em. Shrug.

Thanks for the tips. I'm all about the coffee and will take my mug into the shower with me tomorrow. Maybe a coffee shower? Whatever works.

Yes, but that was before Seroquel (it seems). I don't see any harm in sleeping a little longer while your body adjusts to it
