Mindful Momma
if the switch from abilify 15mg to 20mg doesn't do the trick we are going to try geodon, as it is the last resort drug that doesn't cause weight gain and i - like many - have weight issues. soooooo, i was wondering what everyone's experiences on this drug were, positive or negative. did it get you out of your depression, mania, is it sedating, activating, etc.? thanks! BPBear
I take 20 mgs of Abilify and 160 mg of Geodon every day. When I first began taking these two meds I found them to be slightly sedating. Now that my system has adjusted to them I don't notice any difference. I was prescribed these two meds to alleviate the manic cycles. I have found it to be very effective in controlling the mania. I got the Akathisia side effect and had a feeling I can only describe as I wanted to crawl outside of myself and eventually had to get off this med. Maychild
It made me manic after a while. I was on it for three months and had to quit it cold turkey which was no fun. If you are sensitive to SSRI's be sure to discuss all other avenues with your pdoc before taking it.
