i had acne prior to starting lamictal. it hasn't gotten worse - actually better, so this hasn't been a problem for me, and my acne is geting better on its own i think.

it does seem to be a fairly common side effect though. from my experience, (and im sure others will agree) the benefits from this drug can far outweigh the few side effects you might encounter.

it gave me body acne and mild facial acne, neither of which i'd ever had prior to lamictal. it was really frustrating, but a dermatologist helped me clear it up. better to have bad skin for a while while you work on it with a dermo than continue to be emotionally miserable for fear of skin issues. and, of course, not everyone gets acne from lamictal.

I fully expected to have skin problems from Lamictal, because my skin is pretty irritable, and lots of things make it do weird stuff. To my surprise, nothing happened. I mentioned it to my dermatologist before I started it, and she said that she's seen people for Lamictal-related stuff like acne, it's usually not a big deal and not too hard to clear up, in her experience.

I started getting a little more acne since taking Lamictal. I use face wash with benzoyl peroxide, benzoyl peroxide cream for trouble spots, and a mask with sulfur in it. My face is now pretty clear, though I have the occasional blip now and then.

I love Lamictal and have no problem putting up with the blemishes, as it sure as hell beats depression.
